COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
Ingredients: 2 row German pale malt; Czech Saaz, German Northern Brewer hops.
Heaps o’ hops are hiding under the full, frothy head of this elegant Pils. All German malt subtleties linger beneath a long dry finish of this classy quencher.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2006 4/10/06 Re-rate: I’m an idiot and I managed to buy a 6-pack from the same exact batch, from the same store as my previous rating. That bottle was already a good bit past it’s enjoy by date (6/22/05), so by now it’s almost a year past. I always forget to check the dates on the bottles, which Is really dumb since I know that the stores around here have a tendency to leave this stuff on the shelves forever (I can get pretty much any of their seasonals year round). Oh well, even though it’s the same beer, my palate has changed significantly. I still don’t like pilseners, except for this one. Definitely has that noble hop crispness and yeasty breadiness that I found last time. I get more complexity, though. There is this one flavor that I just can’t place, but the best way to describe it is lemon and basil. Since I said basil, it does have some herbal tones, but not in the way I’m used to. It’s more like a fresh picked herb like basil or maybe even cilantro. Definitely honey in there as well. Lively carbonation with a rich but clean mouthfeel. While this beer doesn’t taste any different to me than the last time, I enjoy it significantly more. Because of this, the old rating is scrapped. 10/22/05 4/3/5/3/12 2.7 I knew I didn’t like pilseners much, but I had heard such great things about this that I had to give it a shot. Turns out I just don’t like pilseners. Lots of noble hops in the aroma and flavor. Has that noble "crisp but not bitter" quality. A bit bready with the yeast. Definitely drinkable. Even though I don’t like it much I find the glass to empty very quickly. If you like the style, this is a great pick. If not, you won’t get too excited.

12oz bottle received in a trade with pjk33 - Thanks Pat! - Pours a beautiful deep golden color with a nice 1/2 inch white foamy head and a load of carbonation bubbles rising to the top throughout. Absolutely beautiful to look at.. Aroma is of a grassy meadow a touch of alfalfa and some light grains. Flavor is quite hoppy for a pilsner. Very grassy and natural tasting. Some light grains, a little dough, a bit o honey, and a touch of citrus at the end before the nice dry finish. On the palate this is crisp and clean and a real thirst quencher. I’m not usually a big fan of this style but this one is tasty.. This is the best pilsener I’ve tried and would be a regular summer beer for me if it was sold here in Ohio. Outstanding..

A very pale yellow with fine carbonation and a creamy head, the aroma is noble hops and clean malt. The flavor is a fine balance between hops malt and finishes dry with a firm bitterness throughout. A fine example of a pilsner- if only the German imports were so fresh.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2008 Score one for the Americans...12 oz. bottle in a willibecker...Coors light pall with head that wavers slightly...still, opaque...malt is noticeable in that crisp, welcoming bite that only a good pilsner can deliver...I wonder if, like Brewery Ommegang, the Downington brewers didn’t take a few notes from a European master...perfect for the oncoming summer...I’d score this higher, if only pilsners weren’t so unimpressively colored or scented... I guess God can’t imbue beauty on everything!

(Bottle (best by 6/15/06) from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/massachusetts/w target=blank>Julio’s Liquors) Hazy pale yellow pour with a large white foamy head. Great aroma of honey and sweet hay. Not much lacing. Mouthfeel is smooth, on the light side but still somehow full. Perfect carbonation. Flavor is a perfect honey and malt sweetness that finishes with a pleasant hop bitterness. Very well-balanced. Great flavor and very easy to drink. Nice honey aftertaste. Memorable. Would be an excellent everyday beer.

WHAT CAN YOU SAY! IT’S THE BEST. GOOD MOUTHFEEL. REFRESHING. A CLEAN INTERESTINGLY BITTER, HOPPY TASTE. CITRUSY SWEET CHEESEBREAD IN THE BACKROUND. THE VERY BEST CARBONATION YOU CAN FIND IN A BEER. DRINK IT IN THE SUMMER. VICTORY DOES EVERYTHING PERFECTLY.

Hazy yellow with moderate white head. Aroma of fresh straw, grass and a bit of perfume. Flavor starts with malt but yields to hops — grains with slight lemon and a slightly bitter aftertaste. Nicely carbonated. Overall, a well balanced, excellent pilsener with big flavor.

Let me preface this by saying that I’m by far the best beer reviewer on this site. I say this with neither malice nor hubris, but with love. Now, on with the show... Victory Prima Pils. Delivered in from Ohio via my brother from a diff mother. Aroma is jagged lemon hops, good-homegrown skunkweed, gorgeous, light as wafer. Pours golden delicious apple, thick in the glass with brief and bubbly head. Finestkind spidery lacings; I’m caught in its web, good god. Flavor: eternally hoppy, bright but quickly dead, bitter butter aftertaste, but too bitter (believe it or not), not enough butter. Thin side of thick on the palate. You know what that means; think! Why does it smell so-o-oooo much better than it tastes? Men’s Journal rated this North America’s best beer. North America’s best beer is ... is... I’ll keep you guessing, beastardo! Hint: this one ain’t it...
