1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
UPDATED: DEC 31, 2013 First of all, let me say that Pilsener is my favorite style of beer. And that I have worked in 4 German Pils breweries. This is not a Pils, has nothing to do with Pils. It is an aggressively hopped American microbrew that tastes like a West Coast IPA. The hop nose is overpowering, the extreme hop oil flavor does not belong here. I do like the bitterness, but I get very little malt sweetness in the aftertaste. Just another over the top, sledgehammer beer from amateurs who have not yet learned how to brew a sophisticated Pilsener. "Prima" it is not.

Tap at Great Notion Brewing.
A: Clear gold in color, foamy white head.
N: Straw, grass, pine, minerality, sulfur, earth, some corn, spent grains. Lemon zest and white grape.
T: Quite clean. Grainy sweetness and a pleasing bitterness.
M: Light body, spritzy carbonation, no alcohol.
A: A bright and easy-drinking pilsener. Quintessential and a great example of what makes this style my favorite.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma of strong floral hops. Appearance, well what you’d expect from a pils. Yellow and fizzy. Palate quite smooth. Taste is unusual. Seems to either have wrong malts or hops. Fruity hops like citra or equinox not sure. But whatever it is it’s not suitable to the style. Too much like an IPA with its fruity hop follow through and not enough bitterness that is typical
for a good pils style. The ale heads might like it but it’s not a proper pils. Simple as.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Grasig floral. Hoppy? Jo!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Very floral almost skunky. Pours pale. Has about everything you’d want in a pils. Very consistent from bottle to tap. High drinkability.
