Dark pour, thin head. Smells like a big porter, with some hints of red fruit. Tastes is roasted and deep, with a unique tarty dryness. The fruity flavor is nicely complex. This beer finishes with a roasty dryness. Interesting and not bad, probably not a beer that I would several of in a row.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle pours almost black with thin tan brief head. Odd aroma of rotted prunes, oak, red wine. Taste nice blend of strong porter, mats and chocolate with oak and red wine. Finish mainly a continuation of the taste with mild oak. Full palate.
Pretty good, the aroma brought down the score a bit.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft. Pretty much black, although itís a bit dark in here, so itís hard to tell. Tan head, that much I can see well enough. Aroma of cocoa powder, vanilla, latte macchiato. Taste is very roasty, with slightly sour coffee. Decent enough.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cocoa powder dominates the aroma with some pickled cabbage type spice and dryness Iím their as well. The flavor has heavy notes of wood barrel and a floral quality that balances the chocolate in here. The mouthfeel is so refreshing for this style. Itís silky but not heavy in any way and allows me to drink the entire bottle enjoyably. If this were he last porter I ever drank, Iíd still be happy. Thank you victory brewing. 2013 large bottle.

750 ml bottle. Pours dark brown almost black with a thin faint wispy film and collar. Aroma has roasted malt some chocolate nuts dark fruit and subtle red wine. Taste the red wine barrels show well and enhance some nice dark fruit flavors. There is roasted malt some burnt chocolate and nuttiness. Palate is medium slick and drying with no real signs of alcohol. Really nice brew!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from original release so aged about a year ... Deep reddish brown pour with a thin off white head ..... aroma of red wine, oak, some chocolate malts, acidic and dark fruits (aromas are overwhelmingly red wine and oak) ..... taste is of red wine, dark fruits, very oaky, mildly acidic, some cocoa and a nice mellowed balance .... mouthfeel is real creamy and the finish is dry with a soft carbonation and a light lingering bitterness ..... abv hidden well .... this brew definitely paid off to age

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
some aged fruit notes in the nose. the room lighting is too dark to describe color. the flavor has some tartness, mild sour note, aged dark fruit. tangy vinous quality, the body... the flavor is saying light, but it actually has a medium mouthfeel. balanced with some malt. complex flavors are in balance -- nothing really overtakes the beer and drives it too hard in one direction.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Barcade, Brooklyn tap ($6): Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is cocoa, wood, sugar, a hint of booze, and barely any roasted malts. Taste is malty, somewhat sweet, full of chocolate, woody, but not quite winy. Well-balanced enough for sure. A good beer overall, but far from exceptional and not weird enough for the genre bending methinks.
