Dark brown pour, tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, tannins, chocolate and an odd almost woody/vegetal note. Flavor is lightly tart, cocoa, prunes, something tart, tannins, oak. Just ok.

Big bottle in a snifter. Pours brown with a lacy head. Aroma of weird sour notes, and not really a Baltic porter’s character. Flavor the same. Average texture. Not great.

750ml bottle pours a hazy purple with some cloudy, white head. Nose is dusty, light red grape, malt. Flavor is sweet, brown sugar, malt, grape jelly, cherry. Medium bodied, sweet finish.

Pours a dark copperish brown with an average tan head that recedes quickly. Aroma leans heavily towards raisin and wine. It has an impression of wood, and a bit of cocoa as well. A very appealing mixture here. The taste takes a step back from the heavy notes of wine. While still prevalent, I get the main themes as chocolate and cocoa. Still woody. The aftertaste is chocolate and wine. Not quite as appealing as the aroma. Medium in body, a texture that is slightly sticky, average carbonation. This one is a bit more unusual than most. I liked it. I think it has enough going for it that most people would also.

Dark red with minimal head. Fruity, berry, chocolate, vinous. Thinner than expected. Finish has a lingering sharpness to it. Almost Belgian like finish. Really enjoyable beer.

750mL thanks to noodleuser. Pours a clear, deep brilliant ruby. Medium coffee head. Nose is butter, oak, sweet cream, milk chocolate, nice red wine barrel/peper/spicy wood. Taste is tangy, oaky, brown sugar, mild red wine barrel, pepper. Very clean, well integrated. Palate is spicy, denser, some ginger spice. Dry, clean, actually refreshing. No off character. Works very well.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2013 cork and cage, pours dark dark brown with a thin tan head. aroma is very fruity, vinous winey notes, not much porter notes, the wine barrel is really apparent in the aroma. Taste isnt as complex as the aroma but its still great, taste is berry, wine notes, some bitter chocolate notes, slight earthiness cant wait to see what some age does to this brew.
came back to a bottle i had cellared for about a year. Aroma developed some sour properties, it still has the red wine notes but now there is a sour berry aroma along with some vanilla and Wood. The taste has a light lacto taste now along with berries, faint cocoa and red wine. Ages nice.

750 thanks to Dan. Pours a dark burgundy color with a medium white head. A dusty dry nose of caramel, some wood. The flavor has dry white wine, caramel, light roast, cocoa, seemingly less of a porter, pushing toward a Quad. Good.
