3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750mL thanks to noodleuser. Pours a clear, deep brilliant ruby. Medium coffee head. Nose is butter, oak, sweet cream, milk chocolate, nice red wine barrel/peper/spicy wood. Taste is tangy, oaky, brown sugar, mild red wine barrel, pepper. Very clean, well integrated. Palate is spicy, denser, some ginger spice. Dry, clean, actually refreshing. No off character. Works very well.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: SEP 1, 2013 cork and cage, pours dark dark brown with a thin tan head. aroma is very fruity, vinous winey notes, not much porter notes, the wine barrel is really apparent in the aroma. Taste isnt as complex as the aroma but its still great, taste is berry, wine notes, some bitter chocolate notes, slight earthiness cant wait to see what some age does to this brew.
came back to a bottle i had cellared for about a year. Aroma developed some sour properties, it still has the red wine notes but now there is a sour berry aroma along with some vanilla and Wood. The taste has a light lacto taste now along with berries, faint cocoa and red wine. Ages nice.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 thanks to Dan. Pours a dark burgundy color with a medium white head. A dusty dry nose of caramel, some wood. The flavor has dry white wine, caramel, light roast, cocoa, seemingly less of a porter, pushing toward a Quad. Good.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown with cream beige head (barrel-aged) / Musty, dry nose of cocoa, roast barley, grass and cream / Medium body, creamy, acidic, good balance with lots of astringency and bitter finish / Subdued flavors of cocoa, dark roast coffee, roast grain, prune, licorice, and oak / No fireworks, and could use a little more "fruit" punch, especially for a Baltic, but a solid brew all around.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours reddish brown, with a tan head. Aroma is fruit, red wine, and a little wood. Flavor is fruit and red wine. Dry and tannic. Medium to light body. I wouldn’t have guessed the base was a baltic porter.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Transparent brown pour with a ruby hue and tan head. The cocoa comes through the strongest of the aromas, a little oak and fruity as well. Wow, I didn’t get a lot of the red wine in the aroma (could be because I am getting over a cold) but it is the highlight of the flavor. The initial flavor is the cocoa and roasted malts but the finish is all red wine, fruity and pungent with the typical tannin astringency. I thought this was an interesting, and welcomed, sibling of the Baltic Thunder.
