COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Victory Brewing Company is known for melding traditional styles and unique concepts to produce the highest quality, full flavored beers. Red Thunder does just that. By aging their popular Baltic Thunder in once-used red wine barrels from Wente Vineyards, Victory Brewing Company created Red Thunder. The burnished cocoa creaminess of the Baltic-style porter is accented by the tannic dryness of the wood to produce a rich, fruity final product.

Beautiful barrel aged brew from Victory. Enjoyed this Is beer with Joeyplush. Subtle vineous flavoring porter that hides the overall alcohol content very nicely. Great holiday warming beer!

Poured opaque black with little head. Faint cocoa and red wine aroma. Mouthfeel is a little watery. The wine barrel aging comes out in the taste; cabernet notes are more apparent than the porter.

Mouthfeel is great, very smooth and round. Flavor is very soft and smooth roast. I think I prefer the original

On the 11th day of Christmas 2013.. Pours reddish brown with a small tan head that sticks around as a ring throughout. Aroma is oak, woody, roast, earthy and dark chocolate. Taste is sweet with shine dry bitters. Medium bodied, smooth with a dry finish.

Second phenomenal barrel aged beer I have had tonight. Rich ruby brown color with a thin off white ring around the glass. Aroma of smooth red wine, flavor is complex - oak, red wine, cocoa, malt, and some vanilla. The palate is fantastic - lingers for a long time with hints of cocoa, fruit and oak. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Dark brown, tall tan head. Thick and creamy, full body, modest aroma. Flavor explosion that is complex but fully enjoyable.

750 ml. corked and caged bottle. Pours a thin beige head, with some lacing, over a clear ruby brown (SRM 25) body....nose is vinous with light cocoa, dried fruits including plum, fig, raisin, minimal hops.....taste is initially light sweetness, then vinous tones, hints of oak, light dried fruits, becoming dry and finishing with quite obvious hop bitterness and woody terpenes......mouth feel light of medium, lightly astringent, alcohol warmth hidden, carbonation adds tingly and a moderately acid finish. This is way off the mainstream of the Baltic Porter style. The vinous tones and barrel are quite apparent, and hide the malt sweet dried fruits layers of the style. The hop bitterness is too high. This is a technically well made beer but it is a bit too twixt and tween to be highly rated on the BJCP system. Experiments sometimes fail. BJCP 7/3/11/4/6

Delicious beer. Great example of a Baltic Porter and an oak aged beer. Deep roasted malts on the tounge mixed with dark red wine and rich oak. High ABV nicely hidden in this flavorful beer.

Pours a dark brown color with a foamy brown head. Notes of vanilla, soured beer, cocoa, smoke, and dark fruit.

Dark black with a thin tan head. Aroma is strong red wine with vanilla and oak. Even expecting it, it was a little surprising. Flavor is complex and somewhat difficult to unpack. Cocoa malt up front with a but of bitterness. Finish is strong oak and vanilla with a hit of fruit and wine. Tannins also noticeable. Makes an interesting substitute for red wine while providing a bit of earthy richness. Wife: 3.5
