Victory Brewing Company is known for melding traditional styles and unique concepts to produce the highest quality, full flavored beers. Red Thunder does just that. By aging their popular Baltic Thunder in once-used red wine barrels from Wente Vineyards, Victory Brewing Company created Red Thunder. The burnished cocoa creaminess of the Baltic-style porter is accented by the tannic dryness of the wood to produce a rich, fruity final product.

Bomber bottle. Dark brown with thin tan head. Roasty nose. Thinner palate roasty and slightly burnt but with some caramel malt sweetness. Roast lingers.

2014-02-28. Very dark brown body with a small tan head. 3+ Aroma is fruity and alcoholic, sort of vinous tangy quality. Flavour is rich and vinously tangy, fruity, moderate oak character. Rich malty character below, lingering oak in the finish. Medium bodied palate, modest carbonation. 3++ Pretty nice, it grows on me. Bottle shared by Blankboy

Thanks to blankboy for sharing this gem. Thanks to blankboy for this. Black pour with a thin white head. The nose has a softly vineous aroma with a bit of vanilla and some lovely soft fruitiness. A touch of licorice and a bit of earthy character. Moderate tartness with a little bit of soft malt sweetness and some herbal character.

Fantastic red wine aroma and taste. Balances nicely with the Baltic Thunder base. Dry finish, fruity, floral, a hint of smokiness. Delightful.

[My bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, JoeMcPhee, jercraigs & mabel] Pours a dark amber-brown with a small frothy/creamy tan head. Interesting aroma of roasted malt, light vinous notes, chocolate, fruit and alcohol. Flavour of roasted malt, vinous notes, chocolate and wood. Medium bodied. Surprisingly good stuff, I quite liked it.

Been eyeing this for several months and I got bored and bought it today. Brown pour decent mocha head. Smell is sweet caramel, boozy red wine, oak, malty. Taste is cocoa, cherries, red wine, medium sweet. Sweet plums through out and the wine and vanilla oak in the finish. This definitely grew on me asi got through the bottle.

750ml corked and caged bottle shared by blankboy with me, jercraigs, mabel, gregclow and joemcphee. Nearly opaque red-black with a smallish but lasting bubbly mottled beige-tan head. Odd aroma - something ... sharp ... then a Belgian Dark character, then something vinous, then more grape ... Taste follows - tons of wine, quite bitter too - lovely. Thick, strongly carbonated, finishes roasty overlaid on slightly sour red wine. Really good - grew on me.

On draft at oscar’s ale house. Pour was dark brown with almost no head but that may have been from the bartender. A very go porter that was very unique. Aroma was chocolate, wood and red wine. Creamy a little tart and woody.

750ml bottle: This one pours a fairly opaque, dark mahogany brown color. There was just a wisp of head on it. It has a nice nose. I definitely can smell a bit of oak and red wine. I get some cocoa too, as well as some faint roasted malts. The taste is very good. Just a bit bitter. Taste is some cocoa, roasted malts and a bit of a dry red wine. A touch of the oakiness comes thru too. This is a very nice brew.

Nice beer. Aroma of roasty malt notes flanked by a little of the red wine reminiscent booze. Taste is solid with more malt and then even more of the red wine oak notes shine through. Just medium bodied which I expected. Pretty much exactly what I’d expect a Baltic porter aged in red wine barrels to be like. Well done.
