COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Victory Brewing Company is known for melding traditional styles and unique concepts to produce the highest quality, full flavored beers. Red Thunder does just that. By aging their popular Baltic Thunder in once-used red wine barrels from Wente Vineyards, Victory Brewing Company created Red Thunder. The burnished cocoa creaminess of the Baltic-style porter is accented by the tannic dryness of the wood to produce a rich, fruity final product.

Tasting at the pad of the ever gracious Bruce. Thanks to renowned author and publisher Mr Bois. Hazy amber - brown beer, little pale tan head. Smooth palate, soft malt, litle cream. Nice touch of wood, very slightly bitter. Ligt red wine fruity tang. Marmalade bitterness. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Good stuff.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Colin. Pours clear, rich brown with a foamy beige head. Dusty cocoa on the nose with a bit of wood, dried berries. Light to medium sweet flavor, loads of barrel presence, dry toffee, tangy wood. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Dry, burnt wood finish with slight dark and tangy berries, oak, tannins, hints of earth and chocolate. Tasty though the barrel is quite present.

Moderate to heavy toast chocolate malt, tannic wood and small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a thick dry smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet chocolate flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. A smooth complex brew.

Draft. Pretty much black, although it’s a bit dark in here, so it’s hard to tell. Tan head, that much I can see well enough. Aroma of cocoa powder, vanilla, latte macchiato. Taste is very roasty, with slightly sour coffee. Decent enough.

Bottle... Cajun Cafe Sour Beer Festival 2014… Pours clear and dark with shimmers of new-penny copper and a small, creamy, beige head. Decent retention. The aroma is chocolaty and fruity – raspberry and cherry cordials come to mind. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The flavor is roasty and charred with a generous ration of tannic, carbonic bitterness. Raspy, dry finish.
