jehoey (766), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 23, 2008 aroma is a bbq pit, smells like sausages and apple smoked bacon. pours amber with 2 fingers of head that don’t stick around for too long. flavor is nice and smokey, yet not in an overwhelming way. I think this is a bit less intense then German versions, but features all the same flavors. a great beer, don’t know why it is so underated. KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 8, 2008 Draft at Brick Store Pub. Pours a rosy, orange color. Thin, white head. Smoky aroma with wood notes. Flavor is also smoky. It’s not too overpowering, just right. Also tasted a bit of cured meat. Finish is funky, some leather and hops. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Jun 7, 2008 Date: 05/29/2008

argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA May 18, 2008 (draft) Crystal clear amber body with small off-white head. Aroma is smoke (charred wood), faint caramel. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, some smoke, peach. Light earthy in the finish. Light-medium body, lightly sticky. EricE (446), Fairfax, Virginia, USA May 13, 2008 Dark amber pour with a clear white head and nice lacing on the glass. Very smoky aroma, almost like a sweet barbecue sauce. Very smooth flavor with balanced hops and malt. Lots of smoke on top of that. The smokiness can be overpowering. Not a bad beer but not for me. mkobes (2103), paramus, New Jersey, USA May 10, 2008 On tap at George Keeley. Deep amber in color with a little off white head. Smokey malty caramel aroma. Malty hoppy notes. Caramel malty flavor. Light smokey notes. Medium bodied. Finish is hoppy. Nice beer. Drinkable. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA May 1, 2008 On tap at George Keeley. Amber with a small head but this bartender can’t pour beer for shit, so... Anyway, nice smokey aroma with a mellow hoppiness. The flavor isn’t punch you in the mouth smoke but it’s in there fo’ sure. Sweet without being sticky with a nice caramel flavor. kmweaver (2398), Sebastopol, California, USA Apr 21, 2008 Draft @ Frisco’s. Pours a bright, clear orange-amber color; thin off-white head with patchy lacing. Light amounts of smoke and sugar in the aroma; toasted wood, char, smoked ham (maple?); not intensely smoky, just pleasant. Medium mouthfeel: shows much more smoke and oily charred malts than the aroma suggests; sugar, roasted meats, and pleasant, almost fruit smoke character; if anything, a touch too sweet. Medium finish, showing sugar, smoke, and a bit of char.
