Commercial Description:
Exotic yet mild lager... Sublime complexity and intriguing malt character glow from this traditional amber lager. The hallmark beer style of Germany's Franconia region, this beer features beech-wood kilned malts for a softly smoky and rich flavor. Overall mild and mellow, this one's a fascinating treat!

Pours a clear golden amber color with thin white head. Aroma was kind of week, not as smokey as I would like. Flavor was also weak, watered down with only a faint hint of smoked malt. Very disappointing.

aroma is a bbq pit, smells like sausages and apple smoked bacon. pours amber with 2 fingers of head that don’t stick around for too long. flavor is nice and smokey, yet not in an overwhelming way. I think this is a bit less intense then German versions, but features all the same flavors. a great beer, don’t know why it is so underated.

Nice copper color with a thin head. Noticeable smokiness among the malts with a slight hop crunch. Smokiness was pretty mild - more mild than expected. Not bad though.

Dark amber pour with a clear white head and nice lacing on the glass. Very smoky aroma, almost like a sweet barbecue sauce. Very smooth flavor with balanced hops and malt. Lots of smoke on top of that. The smokiness can be overpowering. Not a bad beer but not for me.

Draft at Brick Store Pub. Pours a rosy, orange color. Thin, white head. Smoky aroma with wood notes. Flavor is also smoky. It’s not too overpowering, just right. Also tasted a bit of cured meat. Finish is funky, some leather and hops.

On tap @ Victory. Clear amber with a whitish head. Sweet smoky ham aroma. Flavor is sweet malt with a smoke and roast bitterness. Medium body with a mild carbonation and a long smoky finish. Very well balanced smoked beer, a bit thin and watery but still good.

Growler. At Victory Brewing. Pours golden yellow. Thick white bubbly head, that was present in my glass until the very end. Aroma was smoky. Reminded me of bacon. Flavor is smoky up front, mellows out to sweet caramel notes with hints of smoked malts. Mouthfeel was soft. Body medium. Flavor was nicely balanced. Not much for smokey stuff, but this was a treat.

On tap at the brewery. Pours golden with thick white head. Aroma is big time smoke. Long lingering smoke taste too. All smoke but surprisingly drinkable.
