Pours clear gold with a creamy medium white head...nice lacing. Aroma has nice spicy hoppiness...grass and light grains. Flavor is pleasantly bitter...spicy hops dominate...mild grass. Mouthfeel is medium/full...almost resinous...and a nice dry spicy/hoppy finish...crisp and refreshing.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy golden color with a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, toasted malts, some pils malt, citrus fruits, pine and a bit of grass. Taste of citrus, toffee, toast, grass, and a slightly piney, bitter hop finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Commercial Taphouse, this one made with Sladek hops. Never heard of ’em. Pale golden yellow, slight head, slight haze. Aroma slightly grassy. Flavor is a slightly crackery light malt note, followed by lots of hop flavor and a hoppy bitter finish. The hops were grass, hay, and a slight note of green vine. The yeasty body was almost more like an ale than a lager. Not bad, but can’t say this was my favorite hop profile. Glad Victory is doing these beers though.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Growler. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a small fizzy white head. The nose is grassy and lightly floral hops with a nice bready pils maltiness. The flavor is just lightly bitter with a nice grassy hoppiness and a bready pils malt base. A nice lightly soft yeastiness. Light bodied with a touch of clinginess and gentle soft carbonation. Easily drinkable with just the right amount of hops.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
20100718 Tap at brewpub. Sladek hops. Pale golden with lasting, lacing white head and active eff. Can’t say I have even heard of Sladek hops before, though I suppose I’ve probably had it in some commercial brews. The aroma was mostly french bready with some minor mulchy grass and dandelion. Flavor was quite bitter, maybe moreso than I expected, and yet not kooky like Prima, but with a hollowness to it as well as some grainy astringency. Finishes quickly with a mild sweetness and somewhat chalky/mineral note, more lingering notes of cut grass (that was cut a couple days ago) retronasally. Definitely enjoyed the freshness of this beer, but the overall just seemed to be missing something. I’ve had another Braumeister Pils recently that definitely blew this one away, so I’m upping my score a few ticks for that.
