Handbottle thanks to thirdeye11.
I’m a huge Golden Monkey fan so I was really excited to try this. Clear golden pour with some head. Funky and earthy brett aroma with some grains and fruit. Very interesting take on the original.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Handbottle) clearish golden with a ring of fine white bubbles. Nose of florals, brett, earth, golden raisin, olives and Belgian yeast. Taste of brett, dirty socks, gold raisins, moderate alcoholic presence, spices and a nice kick on the finish. Maybe a slight improvement on the original too!

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
In short: A weird very funky and very sweet fruity golden ale. Strange.
How: Growler shared at RBSG 2011 grand tasting
The look: Clear light golden body topped by a small white head
In long: Nose is a strange mix of honey, bananas and a distinct barnyard character. This is going to be a strange beast. Taste is a weird mix of honey sweetness, funky brett, fresh fruits (pineapples and bananas mainly), bretty leathery notes, sweet cider, more… I’m not sure if I’ve ever had a funky beer that was also so sweet. Very unsettling at first but on my second sample I as getting accustomed with it. Not to the point of really liking it, but it was drinkable in a “that’s pretty crazy stuff” kind-of-way. Anyway, that was the first beer I tried at the Summer Ratebeer Gathering and looking around at the tasting I realized that there will never be a “Hunks of Ratebeer” calendar because we will never find 12 candidates.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a pale golden yellowish-orange with golden yellow hues and a very thin white head that immediately fades leaving no lacing.
Sweet boozy aroma with alcohol phenols, light fruit and banana. Slightly spicy with pepper and coriander as well as hints of apple, pear and lots of banana.
Medium bodied with light carbonation and lots of sweetness from the fruit notes. Subtle alcohol with lots of light fruit especially apple, pear and banana. Subtle funky dryness but not sour. Easy to drink but nothing really stands out.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pouring at the grand tasting at RBSG in Philly. Pours a clearish gold with a thin white head. Odd old banana and sage notes on the nose. Weird flavors and aromas, I had no idea what was going on with this. Sweet and medicinal, odd bretty character. Very strange.
