3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pouring at the grand tasting at RBSG in Philly. Pours a clearish gold with a thin white head. Odd old banana and sage notes on the nose. Weird flavors and aromas, I had no idea what was going on with this. Sweet and medicinal, odd bretty character. Very strange.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
This poured a murky darker yellow to gold with a white head. Aroma was of lots of ffunk, but not sour, some swage and garbage in their too. Flavor was just off, vomit garbage and lightt bretty notes. Something went seriously wrong with this one.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
In short: A weird very funky and very sweet fruity golden ale. Strange.
How: Growler shared at RBSG 2011 grand tasting
The look: Clear light golden body topped by a small white head
In long: Nose is a strange mix of honey, bananas and a distinct barnyard character. This is going to be a strange beast. Taste is a weird mix of honey sweetness, funky brett, fresh fruits (pineapples and bananas mainly), bretty leathery notes, sweet cider, more… I’m not sure if I’ve ever had a funky beer that was also so sweet. Very unsettling at first but on my second sample I as getting accustomed with it. Not to the point of really liking it, but it was drinkable in a “that’s pretty crazy stuff” kind-of-way. Anyway, that was the first beer I tried at the Summer Ratebeer Gathering and looking around at the tasting I realized that there will never be a “Hunks of Ratebeer” calendar because we will never find 12 candidates.
