3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a pale fizzy yellow. Small white head atop. Fair amount of bubbles rising throughout. The nose is really herbal, which was expected. Notes of grass, yeast, thyme. Crisp mouthfeel, again expected due to the vast amount of carbonation present. A flavorful beer here with thyme, oregano, lemon pepper, lime, yeast, mild citrus. A lot going on, but it’s almost too strange. This was the last of the 3 versions I needed to try. I don’t think any of the other ones really jumped out at me, and this is no exception. Probably a beer I won’t be visiting again. But hey, the friend I shared it with, it’s his favorite beer. To each their own.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Backlog rating on 8-18-2012. This bottled beer pours a small white head that is fully lasting, transparent yellow body, very little carbonation observed, and spotty amount of lacing. The aroma is malt, yeast, citrus hops, fruity, and spicy. The flavor is lightly bitter, citrus hops, spicy, herbs, fruity, sweet, malt, and has a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is soft carbonation and this beer is light-medium bodied. This beer has a lot going on and I probably missed some aromas and flavors. This is a Saison that is not your typical Saison given all the various aromas and flavors. Thus, it is worth trying.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
I almost wanted to copy after4ever’s words on this as I basically feel the same way after reading his review. Halfway through the bottle at the moment and have this spice fueled sensation lingering on my tongue. The perfume basking while sniffing jolted some sensors in my brain to wake me up a bit...quite enjoyable...perhaps one of my favs so far out of this collab series!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Transfer from BA review on 7-4-12
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a nice clear amber color with a one finger head of just off-white foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a moderate level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is quite heavy of a sweet and malty smell with lots of fruit of peach and apricot as well as a bit of toffee and some biscuit and bready malt smells. Along with these aromas are some lighter citrus and earthy hop mixed with just a hint of lemon.
Taste – The taste begins with a quite bready and sweet flavor with the sweet being a mix of the lighter fruits that were detected in the nose (peach and apricot). A little bit of orange and grape work their way onto the tongue more toward the middle of the taste, with them being joined by a somewhat grainy flavor. Toward the end, the apricot and peach really intensify and mix with a little amount of an earthy hop flavor and some light hay, leaving a nice fruity sweet and bready flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to slightly lower side for a maibock of 7.0 % abv. with a carbonation level that is average. Overall a little thicker body may have been better for the heavy sweet and malty flavors of the brew, but overall the feel was alright.
Overall – A very easy drinking maibock at 7.0 % abv. with a nice big sweet and bready taste. Well worth a try.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from notes 10/11. Pours a clear golden color with a large fluffy white head. The aroma was all about the herbs; sage and rosemary kinda stood out for me, hints of citrus, with some pale malt and grass. The flavor is much the same as the nose. A dry grassy bitterness to the finish. I thought this may have been as good as, if not a little better than the other two, but not enough to justify the huge difference in price.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of fine to medium sized off-white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a typically carbonated slightly hazy yellow orange colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The mild aroma was floral musty wheat dough and banana. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish with a mellow malty aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of Brett strong malt wheat floral dough and malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2012 Bottle to weizen glass. Pours with much less head than other two bottles. Hints of green herbal spice and lemon. This seems like the middle between the stone dogfish versions. Good but not much stands out on this one.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Five Points Bottle Shop (Atl. Hwy). Light farmy sort of nose, with some herbs, maybe rosemary or thyme. Light amber color, thin head, nice slow slinky lace. Mild peach, pear, and citrusy initial / bittering and tang heads into the sinuses / smooth herbal finish, and delicate strained fruit notes reemerge. Thin-medium body. Tasty and light. A bit sweet for the style.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
FROM NOTES: August 11, ’12.
On tap into a plastic tasting glass.
A: Faintly herbal, sweet, lemon, and a yeast bready aroma.
A: Pours a gold with a soft cap of white head that has little retention.
T: Some light underlying malts upfront with fairly intense herb flavors (lavender, rosemary, and sage) and a unique mustiness note as well. Very well balanced. Slightly peppery on the finish.
P: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Dry in the finish.
O: I like the things that make this one different from other saisons, including the mustiness to both the aroma and taste as well as the peppery notes.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance was clear light golden with diminishing white creamy 1 finger head, no lacing. Aromas are simple sweet pils, mild earthy citrus hops, spice and slight tart bready yeasts, no alcohol. Taste are sweet pils malt with lemon, grapefruit hops, slight earthy spicey hops. No alcohol and strange medicinal yeasts. Palate was soft creamy CO2 with meduim body, lasting citrusy yeasts medicinal finish. Maybe a bad bottle, but not fruity like Saison are.
