Victory’s version. Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a foamy 2-finger white head that leaves very little lacing. Aroma is odd... reminds me of lemons, wet hay and spices. Taste is very malty with a barrage of spices. Good light mouthfeel with lots of carbonation. Very diferent, and I am not sure if I will ever buy this again.

Appearance was clear light golden with diminishing white creamy 1 finger head, no lacing. Aromas are simple sweet pils, mild earthy citrus hops, spice and slight tart bready yeasts, no alcohol. Taste are sweet pils malt with lemon, grapefruit hops, slight earthy spicey hops. No alcohol and strange medicinal yeasts. Palate was soft creamy CO2 with meduim body, lasting citrusy yeasts medicinal finish. Maybe a bad bottle, but not fruity like Saison are.

12/15/2010: Victory Saison du Buff... Aroma: Very much like the other two versions, but probably more closer to Stone: Lots of rosemary with some thyme and citrus peel. Appearance: Cloudy pale golden yellow with a dense white to off-white crown. Flavor: Floral and soapy with the herbs coming out more in the middle along with tangy malts; citrus pithe and a growing bitterness come through in the finish. Palate: Medium-bodied, maybe even pushing medium-full; soft, yet slick and nicely oily. Overall: Also very good, a very much like the DFH and Stone versions; I liked the DFH one the most, followed by the Stone version and then just slightly behind is this one; the flavor and herbs are a bit more subdued in this one, but for the price Victory is the best deal at nearly $1/bottle cheaper than the other two... Go figure!

12 fl. oz. bottle (6.8% Alc./Vol. / 11 16 2011). Rating #360 for this beer.

The Lost Notebook Files Beer #11. Pours golden with light head. Hints of nutmeg and sweat. Smooth and refreshing. Good summertime saison.

FROM NOTES: August 11, ’12. On tap into a plastic tasting glass. A: Faintly herbal, sweet, lemon, and a yeast bready aroma. A: Pours a gold with a soft cap of white head that has little retention. T: Some light underlying malts upfront with fairly intense herb flavors (lavender, rosemary, and sage) and a unique mustiness note as well. Very well balanced. Slightly peppery on the finish. P: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Dry in the finish. O: I like the things that make this one different from other saisons, including the mustiness to both the aroma and taste as well as the peppery notes.

A clear, straw colored beer with a small white head. The aroma is hay, hops, and grain. The flavor is slightly bitter and piney with nice yeast.

Bottle from Five Points Bottle Shop (Atl. Hwy). Light farmy sort of nose, with some herbs, maybe rosemary or thyme. Light amber color, thin head, nice slow slinky lace. Mild peach, pear, and citrusy initial / bittering and tang heads into the sinuses / smooth herbal finish, and delicate strained fruit notes reemerge. Thin-medium body. Tasty and light. A bit sweet for the style.

From bottle. Pours a clear golden color with decent head. Aroma is a blend of herbs, hops and yeast. Taste follows but adds citrus and some light malt.
