However, both the flavor and the body are exceptional, and it made the beer quite enjoyable. Lagunitasfan (433), San Diego, California, USA

Had to force the tiniest show of carbonation, and then it was only a hint. Smell is super sweet molasses, plum. Flavor is full, and way complex. Sweet, sharp, malt, caramel, coffee leftovers. Way good. ericandersnavy (1052), crossroads, Texas, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 15, 2008 Pours very dark and thick; aroma of coffee and chocolate. A roasted and slightly bitter taste. Hints of caramel, vanilla, chocolate, and coffee - all sufficiently balanced. Leaves a lingering taste of hops. All-in-all, an excellent brew. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 14, 2008 Bottle - Poured a very black in color with a small tan head that settled to a thin brown rim around the top of the beer. A small amount of lacing on the glass. Aroma is strong of hops, espresso and is slightly smoky. Flavor is hoppy and quite bitter with plenty of coffee, darly roasted malts and some chocolate. Thick and chewy. Alcohol flavor or bite not apparent, but it warms the tummy nicely. Finish is all about the hops and their bitterness... lingering. This is a really good beer... too bad this is the only one that I have... for now. MOboy (446), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 9, 2008 Pours a deep, deep ruby only discernable with a Maglight shining through the glass. a full, tan foam works its way out of the viscous liquid. Smells of hops, coffee, dark chocolate, tar. Smoked bacon, dark chocolates, definate hop resins and big roast all make this an enjoyable Imp St that will age very well.
