CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Sep 30, 2008 Updated: Oct 22, 2008Jakebra crush. Had this after a Pumking. It was so refreshing, which is a first for a Imperial Stout for me. Pretty damn good. Lots of coffee and dark chocolate, some dark fruits, and a very, very bitter finish but it’s beautiful. angrypirate06 (678), Texas, USA Sep 30, 2008 Updated: Apr 1, 2009Thick pour..strong head for a stout...Aroma is espresso, dirt, floral hops and a bit of smokiness. Taste is a nice mixture of floral hops, coffee, and heavily roasted malts. A very enjoyable impy stout. smith4498 (816), Miami, Florida, USA Sep 30, 2008 Pours dark brown/black with tan head. Burnt malt aroma with a touch of hops. Burnt malt, coffee, chocolate and hops flavors with moderate sweetness. Full body with minimal carbonation and a velvety mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden for being over 9% ABV. Very good brew. Pershing (146), Garland, Texas, USA Sep 29, 2008 Black Gold with a nice brown head. Roasted malt aroma. Coffee notes with plenty of hops. Another excellent beer from a great brewery. I wish I would have discovered this brewery sooner. Swolf3 (252), Elkton, Maryland, USA Sep 23, 2008 Bottle sampled 03, 04, 08 at Stateline Liquors. All poured a murky black with not much head. Aroma was sweet with caramel chocolate. and roasted malts. Taste was chocolate roasted malts, caramel, and mild alcohol. A very nice brew, well balanced and ages very well. 03 almost rolled down your throat. Moggman (187), Columbus, Ohio, USA Sep 22, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark brown with very little head. Chocolate, coffee, and smoky notes, finishes a little bitter with a hoppy bite. cmillward (418), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 22, 2008 Bottle. Pours murky brown/black with no head. On the nose, sweet, malty, roast, coffee. In flavor quite malty, some chocolate, there seems to be some smoke-like phenols, strong hop bitter end. Fair to low carbonation, decent mouthfeel, with some drying hop action. Overall a decent IS, just didn’t seem overtly complex or intriguing. BenDover (125), Texas, USA Sep 20, 2008 Pours a very dark brown, almost black. Some dense tannish foam. Aroma of roasted malts, nutty, maybe a bit of vanilla. Taste of the same. A bit bitter on the finish, and the alcohol is noticable, but very very good.
