kosko20 (302), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Sep 20, 2008 Stopped in my local liquor store and was like wow, this is here, gotta try this. A good brew for sure. Aroma is balanced between roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, and a smoky note. Pour is black with a minimal brown head that fades to lacing. Flavor is sweet but not too sweet of chocolate, smoke, tobacco and roasted malts. All balanced very nicely. Warm, medium bodied, smooth, starts sweet but ends slightly bitter which is nice. Overall a very easy to drink Imp Stout thats balanced and complex. BillWyce (90), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 19, 2008 Pours BLACK with a nice, deep tan head that left nice lacing. Nutty, malty
aroma with some notes of caramel and
coffee. Nice, smooth palate. sweet,
malty flavor with a bit of a bite. Some
caramel notes as it warmed. According
to the bottle, it could have been aged
until 2013...I’ll have to get another and
try that. KimJohansen (6645), Copenhagen V, Denmark Sep 19, 2008 Black with huge beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, coffee and coffee notes. Sweet flavour with roasted malt, caramel, coffee and chocolate notes. Ends roasted with warming alcohol. NaturalIce (115), originally from Michigan, New York, USA Sep 17, 2008 12 oz bottle poured into glass; Very dark, obviously, with a dark tan head. Aroma is of sweet hops. Taste of hops starts off this adventure through flavorland. Very rich; the roast malts take over after the hops and the finish has a warming bitterness to it. Great stout. ewestern (198), Ohio, USA Sep 14, 2008 Black pour with a medium tan head. Sweet roasted malts with raisins came through the nose but was a bit weak. Roasted malt flavor with some chocolate and a bitt coffee finish. Seemed to be missing something. blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 13, 2008 bottle, black coffee colored pour, small nut brown head, roast coffee nose, flavors of bitter chocolate, cocoa powder and dry hop finish mikalooch (158), , New Jersey, USA Sep 12, 2008 Pours motor oil black, strong smell of hops and roasted coffee. Nice but thin tan head. Flavor is strong coffee, roasted malt, and dark chocolate. Finishes very bitter, medium mouthfeel with abundant carbonation, warms as it goes down. Very good beer, could have used a little bit more sweetness. hillfiiiiire (283), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Sep 11, 2008 Pours black body with a nice tan head that leaves lacing. Coffee and roasted malts in the aroma. Pretty tasty aroma. Flavor is a little less invigorating with the roasted character taking precedent with a pleasant note of bitterness. Medium body mouthfeel to it. Pretty all right beer though.
