hillfiiiiire (283), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Sep 11, 2008 Pours black body with a nice tan head that leaves lacing. Coffee and roasted malts in the aroma. Pretty tasty aroma. Flavor is a little less invigorating with the roasted character taking precedent with a pleasant note of bitterness. Medium body mouthfeel to it. Pretty all right beer though. jetzler (622), oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA Sep 10, 2008 Bottle, Nice hops and malt present in the aroma pours a nice black color with a tan head. Big body big roasts, nice bitterness but an easy drinker. Nicely done, not too watery but not as big and bold as other RIS brews. Quite nice not a lawn mower by any means but its tasty. TOSG55 (75), Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA Sep 9, 2008 Bottle. Pours a very dark black, with a minimal head. Relatively muted malty aroma. The flavor is noticeably hoppy for a stout, but well balanced with malty sweetness: coffee and nut characters are prominent. Less complex than many imperial stouts, but pleasant and surprisingly drinkable. graham515 (420), Houston, Texas, USA Sep 7, 2008 Updated: Dec 16, 2008Pours a dark black into the glass with a nice tan head. Aroma is roasted grain and coffee. Flavor is bitter chocolate with some raison like tones. This beer is huge on roasted malt flavor with lots of hop bitterness as well as the bitterness from the roasted grains. This is my kind of imperial stout. Alcoholic taste is a little harsh as the brew warms. timsilvia32 (445), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Sep 6, 2008 Cloudy black/brown pour. Very roasty aromas. Tastes of roasted malts, bakers chocolate, coffee, a little licorice. Quite full bodied. A little overly harsh with hoppiness. Good lingering coffee/bitter finish. Can’t complain about this one. kopher (294), New York, USA Sep 5, 2008 Pours very dark thick brown, lots of light-brown head. Very nutty, roasty aroma, with tons of green olives and earthy hops at the end. Taste is sweet at the front, surprisingly sharply bitter at the finish. Lots of chocolate, but the lasting finish is hops. Mouthfeel is surprisingly light for a stout, a bit dry, but good.
Whiskeyjack (10), , Massachusetts, USA Sep 4, 2008 Pleasant mild aroma with a note of fruitiness. Pours with an awesome, full, brown head that leaves a pretty lace pattern to the glass. The beer itself is practically opaque, as black as night, The flavour is fantasticly balanced between bitterness and sweetness. There are tastes of smoke and a dark chocolate present. The beer tastes great & has a full body with a creamy testure. mekjubaksa (17), Houston, Texas, USA Sep 4, 2008 On Tap in snifter. Really fricking good. Rich and deep flavors that are subtle. Roasted malt complexity that demands attention. Just incredibly great!
