Bigmmartin (366), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jul 6, 2008 Updated: Jul 7, 2008Bottle thanks to 1 2many. Pours absolute black. This is where light goes to die. Light tan head. Aroma is an intriguing roasted malt and hops. More hops than I expect from a stout. Flavor is a similar roasted malt, hops, and sweet undertones. A delicious brew and one of the most well balanced Imperial Stouts I’ve come across so far. Woodsman52 (23), , Ohio, USA Jul 6, 2008 Dark, very dark. Thick bodied, with a smoky taste. Smells like burnt malt. The head is nice and brown. This beer is bitter sweet enough to be confused with an iced coffee drink. Very good, i would absolutely recommend this beer to a stout lover! Jblauvs (530), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jul 5, 2008 black pour with small brown head
smoky, chocolaty aromas are immediately evident. Harsh, hoppy, smoky mouth feel. alcohol evident, Some roasted chocolate follows. Also some notes of dark fruits, prunes. I agree that this beer would be 10 times better if aged, if only for a year. but still a massive brew. IPAaLLtHEwAY (136), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Jul 5, 2008 Pours black with a thick tan head. Smells like coffee. Flavor is of hops and coffee with a hint of cocoa. The aftertaste is very long lasting and smooth. 12many (231), Ohio, USA Jul 5, 2008 Bottle thanks to my father. Every now and then he picks out a winner. Black with a nice frothy light brown head. Pleasantly surprising how much hops stand out at first followed by dark chocolate and coffee. Sweet and very smooth at first with a wonderful lingering bitter aftertaste. Fantastic. dwaggs2 (530), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA Jul 3, 2008 Hard to get ahold of this guy. This was a great beer. Dark and deep in flavor. High in alcohol better could not taste like it. Another must try. Would buy again. daknole (2800), Plantation, Florida, USA Jul 3, 2008 Black pour, small head. Delicious. sweet and malty with a real nice hop bite. this one is creamy and nice. doogie (24), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 2, 2008 Pours Dark! with an off-white head. Aroma of roasty malt. The first flavor is a surprise of kickin’ hops - I say surprise because I was expecting a rich sweet malty flavor following the aroma. Finishes with another blast of biter hops. If you’re a hop person, this could be the Stout for you. Not my "cup of tea".
