Commercial Description:
With a huge, Pacific Northwest hop aroma & character upfront, Storm King subsides into massive, roast malt complexity. More flavor than mere words can adequately describe. Rich and substantial, it will warm your heart.

This is a very rich, full beer; certainly not what you’d call sweet. It has a taste and an aftertaste and an after-aftertaste, but in a good way; the powerful flavor stays with you. If you can’t stand anything but a light flavor, this wouldn’t be your thing, and definitely don’t try it after consuming something sweet or it will taste very bitter... but it is so dark it’s almost opaque, and in my opinion, as close to perfect as a stout can get. Pair it with something fairly strong in flavor if you have it with a meal. Buffalo wings, spicy pizza, and steak all work.

I have been looking forward to enjoying a Victory Storm King Imperial Stout for a long time. I was unable to find in in Indiana or Illinois, but found it right away at a Dean and De Luca in SOHO! This is a beautiful black beer with a developed but smaller deep mocha head. The aroma is sweet with a primarily coffee base. The flavor is also of coffee and some roasted malts.

Bottled. Really good impy stout but not quite great. IMHO I think it was overly-hopped. The hop characteristics seemed to overpower everything else in the aroma and flavour. Still a good stout but really missing the chocolate, coffe and malt tones.

Bottle marked enjoy by 5/30/12 sampled on 6/8/08. Much better than the taste I had from this batch about six months ago. Barely any alcohol, which was abrasive before. Aroma is berries, vinous, with a little diacetyl. Taste is better, rather chocolaty with an overall very nice malt profile. A good amount of malt bitterness and roasty as well. As it first enters the mouth, it is unrefined, but by the finish, it is exceptionally well-rounded. Palate is quite nice, incredibly smooth with perfect carbonation. There is only a hint of acidic alcohol abrasiveness to bring it down to a 4. 7/4/8/4/17-4.0 Best by 5/30/12. Enjoyed on 6/29/09. Surprised by the cedar in this (flavor, not aroma, but actually a little in the aroma). Reminds me a ton of Cigar City 110K+OT Batch 2. Very smooth flavors. 8/4/9/4/18-4.3

Thinner than it is dark and with a hint of IPA/barleywine. For the price, and considering it’s an imperial stout, not quite FTW but still not exactly fail, either.

RB#4900: 12 fl oz bottle, huge thanks to Grovlam for providing this treat! Pours pitch black with a lacing tan head. Solid roasted and chocolate malt with a mild alcohol bite. Flavour is smooth with a nice hoppy bitterness that goes through from beginning to end. Mixed with a nice roasted malt flavour and gradually going into a nice chocolate smoothness and back again with a solid roasted malt and mixed with a hoppy bitternes.. Ends with a smooth to sharp roasted malt flavour.

This is a great beer, from the pour to the last sip. Victory is coming out with some great American beers that can compete with the West coast.

ooh this is good, another of my 30 beers that I picked up while in Portland. Nice pitch black pour leads to a very complex yet delicious assault on my taste buds.
