Commercial Description:
With a huge, Pacific Northwest hop aroma & character upfront, Storm King subsides into massive, roast malt complexity. More flavor than mere words can adequately describe. Rich and substantial, it will warm your heart.

deep opaque brown. slick thin head. bright but smooth malt nose. some dates in it. taste explodes for a stout but the mouth is the biggest virtue for me. maybe too bitter/sour at the the finish?? not a session beer thats for sure. substitute for a meal, mayhaps!

the beer glugged into my tremens tulip. the beer is opaque black with a nice brownish head that fades pretty quickly leaving a tan ring around the glass. this beer smells fantastic. i smell chocolate, cocoa, espresso and a bit roasty. the taste stands up to the smell as well. the alcohol seems to be in the taste and the burn. noticeable in taste, but not the smell is HOPS??? not the typical stout i’m used to drinking. a pleasant surprise actually. as the beer warms, the hops seem to mellow a bit and the beer sweetens. superb. the mouthfeel is full and carbonated. chewy but not sticky. i wish it were a tad thicker. (perhaps as it warms) the beer does indeed thicken as it warms. this is a fine imperial stout that i’m glad i have another of and will seek out in the future.

Anise and coffee smell with a black as the ace of spades color and mahogany smokey head. Hops overlaod on the palate but it fades quickly into the chocolate and malt flavors. Very good!

After a second taste, I don’t like this one as much as I initially did. Pours black with a small white head. Nose has roast coffee with a little chocolate, oat, and alcohol. The taste is rather simple with roast and chocolate. Creamy for a stout though a little watery, SK is not very balanced or complex.

Bottled. Tnx Jerohen for the import. Aroma has some chocolate, roast, coffee, prunes and other dark fruits. Dark black coloured with not much head. Taste is moderate bitter, sweet. It has coffee, roast and chocolate combined with more fruity tones. Some licorice. Quite a good combination.
Rerate after another bottle. I think it lacks a bit body to be a real good imperial stout.

Beautiful balance between hops and malt. Very pleasant citric hop presence as well as a nice and hard subtle coffee and slight chocolate malt match towards the citric hop oils. Spectacular balance.

Bottled, brought from the US by jerohen. Dark color, short off-white head. Aroma is strong of coffee and dark chocolat. Tastes the same, only slightly roasted. Very nice, but it lacks some complexity actually.

Opaque, dying head. In aroma roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, hops and raisins, very nice. Bitter flavour, roasted malts and liquorice. Thick mouthfeel. Lasting finish. Very nice.
