Ramenen (453), San Salvador, El Salvador Mar 14, 2008 Drank it with Juancho at the Ginger Man in NYC. Cask. Deep Black and brown head. Malty, nutty, ashy and very smooth. BigMilly8 (374), Holiday, Florida, USA Mar 11, 2008 From bottle : Pours ver dark with a light brown half finger head, and ok lacing. The aroma is a little faint to me. But i get roasted coffee beans up front, then rich dark choclate on the back end of my whiff. Very thick stuff. Rich expresso taste with dark chocolate and a mild hop presence are the dominate flavors im getting here, it is a nice blend and well balanced. Very thick oily mouthfeel. Roastedness and some alochol on the aftertaste. Pretty yummy beer no doubt. daniellerose7 (119), new york, New York, USA Mar 9, 2008 Imperial Stout is not my favorite beer style, but this was a good one. Very heavy on the hops, hints of coffee, caramel... the usual for an I.S. An impressive beer, but I wouldn’t go after it again. DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Mar 8, 2008 Perfect temp, perfect pour.. Great nose of sweet chocolate with lesser roasted coffee tones. Pours very dark, almost black, with a thick and creamy light brown head. Wow great taste.. Nice roasty chocolate flavor as it just sits in your mouth with a great hoppy finish that leaves a dry coffee aftertaste. Also a lot of toffee and caramel flavors in the mix there too. Could use some mellowing, but a delicious stout right out of the brewery. Vas19 (292), Maryland, USA Mar 8, 2008 Awesome pitch black pour, thin brown head disappears quickly. Coffee on the nose. The taste starts out sweet, and moves to coffee and hops. Excellent balance. The malt is there too. This is the hoppiest stout I have had, but not in a bad way. This is a very young bottle, drink by 11/16/12. I definitely am going to hold onto a couple of these and see what they are like in a few years. fiver29 (703), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Mar 7, 2008 On tap pours a pitch black. Has a strong coffee smell. Has a good malt base and is well hopped. Has a smooth mouthfeel. Overall a very solid beer. JCB (1713), Durham, North Carolina, USA Mar 6, 2008 I want to hate. I want to say, along with haters, that this beer has gone downhill, that back in the days of the purists this was a troo, kvlt imperial stout. Well, on the one hand, this bottle (best by 2011 sometime) is slightly more hop-forward and slightly thinner than I recall my first Storm Kings. But on the other hand, it’s hard to deny the power and the pleasure of this most hoppy of imperial stouts, lively and fruity yet roasted at the same time. Balanced, satisfying palate, and still a damn fine brew. jeffwilliams11 (310), hooterville, Michigan, USA Mar 6, 2008 this is like a coffee stout and a double ipa had a love child. very hoppy, bitter carmel aftertaste. very good beer, but not your typical imperial stout.
