A very solid stout. JohnnyOS (646), Golden, Wisconsin, USA Feb 17, 2008 Pours pitch black with light brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate and roasted malt.. flavor matches with a fade. Strykzone (1458), Wood River, Illinois, USA Feb 14, 2008 This is a delicious impy stout. Flavors of roasted nut, coffee, dark chocolate, hop, and sweet malt. There is enough malt that licking the lips brings more sweet flavor. The hop provides a hint of tartness and the bitterness is of strong coffee. Alcohol level is not overpowering and only marginally noticed in the flavor. What a great beer! gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Feb 13, 2008 Bottle. Pours black as the other side of the moon. Thick, creamy dark-tan head. Great lacing. Pretty much as good as any imperial stout can look. Aroma is big roasted coffee, smoked pine, and sweet licorice. Very good, could definitely wake up to this smell every morning. Flavor is awesome as well. Roasted coffee, chocolate, burning oats, licorice, candy apple...so good. Rich, smooth and full-bodied. Oily bitter bite. Well-balanced and absurdly good. A top notch, world class beer. Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Feb 12, 2008 12oz bottle(courtesy of mreusch) -A pitch black body with a nice tan head that dissipated into a small ring.Aroma of malt and sweetness. Taste of roasted malt, coffee, and some alcohol. A little blah IMO. Was expecting a lot more from previous reviews. IlanMan (816), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Feb 10, 2008 Dark pour with small creamy tan head. Aroma of strong malt and chocolate. Taste has more hop character along with the roasted malt. Body was medium and smooth. Very nice mouthfeel. Would probably buy again.
