COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With a huge, Pacific Northwest hop aroma & character upfront, Storm King subsides into massive, roast malt complexity. More flavor than mere words can adequately describe. Rich and substantial, it will warm your heart.

I poured a 12 oz bottle into a snifter. There, the purplish black liquid raised a one-finger milk chocolate colored head that faded to adequate but not lavish lacing. I’m a big fan of Victory, but usually am not keen on double stouts, so I was keen to sample this legendary beer. It turns out that my love of brewery proved the better indicator, as I found this beer highly satisfactory. A pleasant dose of grassy, tree bark-ish hops dominates the nose, and these palate-cleansing agents return in the beer’s finish. In between, you get espresso, baker’s chocolate, roasted nut skins, and a bit of browned flour. The palate proves surprisingly light for a double stout, meaning that you can still see your toes over your belly after you finish one. If you can still see the refrigerator, you might as well go get another.

Bottled "enjoy by 07/10/19". Pours pitch black, fairly large tan head for a beer this strong. Aroma is lots of roasted malt, sweet chocolate flavor, the hops actually come through a lot for an imperial stout, citrus, some stone fruits, bit of cherry, coffee. Really big complex aroma. Flavor is an excellent mix of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, and hops. Just they all come together so well. The roasted character comes first, then the hops hit you, then immediately after comes the coffee bitterness and there’s a coffee bitterness finish. Excellent hoppy imperial stout.

Aroma is deep with an oaty sense. Rich black color. Heavy on the tongue. Tar and caramel flavors. Had on tap. Hubby loved it.

Dark black pour with a large airy tan head. Slight lasting lacing. Aroma is earthy with a definite hops presence. A wonderful balance of sweet and bitter with a bit more emphasis on the ho’s than normal which I actually find refreshing and enjoyable. Definitely something I will drink again.

Pour from a fresh bottle (ie I did not cellar this cellarable able beer) into a Left Hand/Rogue stout glass. Black with big brown head. Aroma: biscuits, roasted barley, and bubble gum. Taste is bitter chocolate at first, then a long smooth cocoa coffee finish. Some alcohol up front but not at all predominant. Very nice, I think I’ll put one in the basement for a year or two. Temperature note: infinitely better at the correct temp (55°F).

12 oz bottle into tulip. Hoppy aroma with notes of spruce. Appearance is black with three finger soft creamy tan head. Taste is medium bitter. Very hoppy up front with a fairly smooth finish with notes of chocolate. Medium to full bodied beer with an oily texture and average carbonation. Fairly long finish. Overall pretty good brew. Way hoppier than average stout. Interesting twist in the world of stouts. Worth a taste, especially if you like hops.

330 ml bottle bought at Bierkompass.de some months ago.
Pitch black, oily body, with a medium, stable, dense, creamy, dark beige head.
Delicious, smooth aroma of coffee, melting dark chocolate, cocoa, liquorice, dark fruits, subtle hops.
Taste follows the smoothness of the nose, with coffee, cocoa powder, liquorice, dark chocolate, some vanilla, some dark fruits, subtle hops again.
Full, creamy mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes roasty-bitter, but not too harsh, with dry cocoa, coffee, liquorice, zesty hops, subtle smoke.

Very tasty! Perfectly balanced, straight, but still rich and complex and comparatively drinkable. The nose, the flavour and the mouthfeel all share the very satisfying smoothness. An Imperial Stout how I favour it.

Surprisingly black color on this beer. Nice thick beige head that gives a fine lacing. Coffee, chocolate and roasted aroma. Very inviting. Full to medium body. Good balance between sweetness and bitterness. Soft carbonation and a creamy texture. Nice smooth coffee, chocolate and roasted flavor with some toffee in the back. Well masked alcohol. Nice evening sipper.

330ml bottle from Cottridge Wine. Deep stout off black, with pale tan head. Aroma has coffee roasted malt and burnt toffee. Taste has these too nice but not wow.

Nice dark pour. The sweet aroma had me concerned as I prefer stouts which smell of roast, coffee, chocolate, or any combo thereof. This beer is sweet up front, but this is quickly washed away by a rush of roasted malt and coffee bitterness. It gets extra points for the surprising and delicious twist.

Pours black , small grey head . Smell is bit sweet, bitter dark malts . Taste is bitter, really familiar yet weird .. Coffe / cacao in its purest form . Pure , burnt maltyness . some oat-bitterness in there as well . Finish is bitter, pure cacao with coffee-bitter undertones . As well as some very earthy hop bitterness . Truly unique so far - to me - and I quite like it . Body is rather thin, carbonation is rather high . I’d say if those 2 would be upscaled, this would be a blast !
