| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 3, 2010 Bottle. Nice, opaque black pour with a tan head. Smell is a combo of coffee and caramel. Taste has a nice balance of bitter and sweet. Some coffee notes, again paired with some caramel flavor. Extremely creamy mouthfeel as well. Very enjoyable. Heavy malts and cereal aroma up front with some coffee and a light floral air. Nice full, somewhat creamy mouthfeel with light, crisp carbonation. A complex character with dark chocolate, cheese, and slightly burnt coffee. The same floral hoppy aroma creates the aftertaste. I very nice overall balance of flavors. A bit hoppier than I expected from a stout, but not too overpowering. I will definitely buy again. angrybeerman (124), Dublin, Ireland
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 2, 2010 Deep, strong black colour with good tan head which lasted for most of the drink. Wonderful sweet, fruity aroma. Taste was roasted and of hops with chocolate, coffee and caramel notes with a host of other flavours that I can’t quite put my finger on or remember. Complex and very well balanced Slightly bitter finish with a nice subtle burn. Pleasant aftertaste. Overall this was excellent and will definitely have this again. Wonder if they have this on tap anywhere... Ethereal (1707), London, Greater London, England

Flavoursome - lots of bitter chocolate & caramel. Smooth palate and a fine aftertaste that lingers just the right amount. Great balance between bitterness and rich malt. cjbphd (2), New Haven, Connecticut, USA does not count | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Dec 29, 2009 extremely opaque, black color. decent head that lingers in a small stripe, leaving a bit of lacing on the glass. Decent mouthfeel, in between watery and creamy. Powerful hop aroma, as well as what I felt were hints of fruit, perhaps traditional hefeweizen notes? Tastes like it smells, very complex and quite hoppy. In my limited experience, this is the hoppiest stout I’ve ever tasted. As with most beers, I feel that the hops overpower other flavors, and the traditional coffee/chocolate/etc. stout taste is lost in a black hoppy sea. Not my favorite, but a complex experience; I can definitely see why it’s so highly rated. curly (767), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
