Cocoa colored head dissipates and creates a rim and a calder. Smells of chocolate. Taste of chocolate and coffee. Long lasting hop finish. Very nice. rederic (1816), montréal, Quebec, Canada

Roasted coffee, slight burnt sugar taste, maybe a little chocolate and plum. Hop twinges initially and throughout. Truly yummy. Had it in a tulip glass...I don’t know if that’s recommended for the style, but it killed me in the nose in a good way! illinismitty (1811), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Faint aroma of dark roasted malt, coffee, chocolate. Lightly carbonated, but texture is a little light for the style. Strong roasted malt flavor and aggressive but pleasant hoppiness. Chocolate and caramel comes out quickly before the bitter, roasty, and warming finish. The alcohol is not very hidden, but its not bothering me on this one. Still decent, but I had greater expectations. At least this one is unique, points there. I hope to try this at the brewpub next time I visit Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA

Pour is black with an orange beige head. This is it. This is the reason I drink beer. The flavors of roasted malt, alcohol, coffee, sugar, and grape come together in a perfect harmony. The flavor is a Mobius strip on my tongue. There is nothing I can say that has not been said here. Almost perfect. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA

Aroma was inviting with roasted, malty, coffee, chocolate tones. The flavor gave me hints of a roasted espresso with a touch of chocolate. Outstanding to the palate. Damn, I wish I had bought more. I want to say, along with haters, that this beer has gone downhill, that back in the days of the purists this was a troo, kvlt imperial stout. Well, on the one hand, this bottle (best by 2011 sometime) is slightly more hop-forward and slightly thinner than I recall my first Storm Kings. But on the other hand, it’s hard to deny the power and the pleasure of this most hoppy of imperial stouts, lively and fruity yet roasted at the same time. Balanced, satisfying palate, and still a damn fine brew. Palidor19 (1798), Brandon, Florida, USA
