With a huge, Pacific Northwest hop aroma & character upfront, Storm King subsides into massive, roast malt complexity. More flavor than mere words can adequately describe. Rich and substantial, it will warm your heart.

Poured lighter than expected, a walnut brown with a decent khaki head and good lacing. Hop aroma is very present on nose with chocolate and some coffee also. Taste of sweet chocolate first then some roast and coffee, like a chocolate covered coffee bean. Finishes with a good amount of hop bitterness that helps balance the sweetness and a little bit of char. Also some warming from the alcohol. Medium bodied with moderate mouthfeel and carbonation. Nice hoppy and sweet stout. ---Jeremy H

Like Victory’s Golden Monkey, this ones’s ABV sneaks up on you. Subtle flavors balance out without obvious comparisons to foodstuff--how I like IMHO.

Helt svart med lavt brunt skum. Knekk, karamell, kaffe og vanilje i duften. Knekk og kaffe dominerer smaken. Myk munnfølelse, burde Vært litt tykkere.

Drank with Marijn, Bram and Lennart in the Stone brewery bar (awesome place!) in Berlin. "Tuinbonen" taste? Complex taste, hop vs stout. Slightly coffee as well. Not bad. Bitter.

Bottle from The Beerhive, Edinburgh. Initial aroma is chocolate/caramel; roasted malt. The rich hop profile comes to the fore once in the glass. Pours jet black with a thick, light brown head. This being the first US stout I’ve had, the big American hop presence instantly sets it apart from traditional Irish/British stouts. Doesn’t have quite the chocolate/malt character I was anticipating (especially after the initial aroma). There is some coffee-like bitterness on the back end. Certainly a complex beer, and one that’s probably best enjoyed slowly.

Pours dark black with thick lacing and off-white to tan head. Aroma is citrus, roast coffee, dark chocolate and mint. Taste has cream, salt, burnt sweetness and a long bitter finish with full body. Nice bit of alcohol to end. Seriously strong flavours and interesting hybrid of black IPA and imperial stout, even if I’ve had better imperial stouts.
