COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With a huge, Pacific Northwest hop aroma & character upfront, Storm King subsides into massive, roast malt complexity. More flavor than mere words can adequately describe. Rich and substantial, it will warm your heart.

Dark brown almost black with little tan head. Aroma was pleasant with chocolate and figs. Taste started out with dark fruit/figs followed by cocoa and roasted malts. Finish had a lot of alcohol burn on it. I expected to taste some of the alcohol but not this much. Mouthfeel was medium with high carbonation. Not as impressed as I had hoped. With cellar a few to see what they are like in 2015.

12 Fl Oz bottle. Intense black colour with some ruby highlights. Creamy, tan head which lasted well before reducing to a ring but left some lacing. Restrained aroma of sweet malt, espresso, roasted grain, citrus cocoa powder and charcoal. Light to medium sweetness, medium to high bitterness. Initial sensation of metho then lots of roastiness and then the resinous bitterness kicks in. Medium bodied, creamy texture, noticeable alcohol burn and a very long roasted / bitter finish. Not feeling the love for this one. 6.

355 ml. bottle @ home. Obtained in a trade with LouS. Thanks. BBF 28/01/2020. Black, small mocha head. Nose has a surprising amount of hops, pine resin & grapefruit behind the hops there is a layer creamy sweetish milk chocolate & coffee. Taste is bitter pine resin hops, grapefruit peel, bitter citrus peel leading into creamy milk chocolate, coffee, dark chocolate, light toffee, lighter than most RIS but not thin, finish is lingering hop bitterness once again,… Heavy pine resin & grapefruit finish + a strongly dominant trait overall. Very heavily hop forward. Putting it far closer to Black IPA than RIS territory. BIPA avant la letter looking at how far this one dates back. This probably makes way more sense now than it did way back, great stuff.

Aroma is surprisingly malty with some black licorice, roast, hops, dark fruit and coffee. Complex, but not very strong and has a strange stainless steel characteristic to it. Appearance is classic imperial stout - flat black color with a light tan head. Taste is very hoppy and roasty. The hops drop off quickly leaving an aftertaste of roast. Smoky and bitter with no booze burn. The palate was very disappointing. To me, it’s the palate that separates a great imperial stout from an ok one. Overall, this stout was just ok. I was expecting something great.

Black pour with a decent tab head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt, a little smoky. Taste is nice balance of dark malt, coffee, some hop bitterness, and finishes with coffee, a little liquorice and maybe plummy fruit. Really good

EBD 15jan 2020. Pours pitch black. Outstanding head volume and lacing, very good retention. Rich nose of dark chocolate, sweet milk chocolate, light coffee and light roast. Medium body with a creamy texture, but not in a viscous way. Superbly carbonated with effervescence from the middle on. The outstanding flavor profile is intense, fairly complex and expertly balanced. It begins with bitter and sweet chocolate over notes of caramel. The middle brings a moderate bitterness of roast and hops and a nice bold hop flavor that is typically not present in imperial stouts. As the bitterness ebbs, light coffee is present over the strongest caramel influence. The finish is a slow fade of mixed flavors, with hops being the most discernible over caramel.

Bottle from Beer Dock, Crewe. Pours black brown with a medium tan head. Plenty of hops, raisins, coffee, so easy drinking. More of a black IPA. Marvellous.

TAP. Pours motor oil black with a quick disappearing tan head. Nose is a very subtle dark to roasted malts.. Dark malts up front, a touch of coffee in the middle with a thick sticky bitter finish, warms you up. Sourced Pourhouse Dunsborough

This one didn't quite live up to what I would expect from a imperial stout. I could see through the liquid. Not enough base malt body. I like the attempt at heavy hopping but combined with smoked flavours it was too bitter without the body of the malt to balance it. I can see it rated well but could not support such ratings on my experience. Maybe it was just the batch. (Or ruined by the journey to Australia). ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle w hard pour into stout glass. Black w voluminous tan head that settles into a solid fairly stable 1/2 inch. Aroma of oak, leather and mild smokey malt with a touch of anise? Similar taste w Roasted maltiness. Thick slick mouthfeel. Slight bitternes w some bite from the dark malt. Good solid taste but a bit dryer and sharper than I recall in previous years. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
