COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With a huge, Pacific Northwest hop aroma & character upfront, Storm King subsides into massive, roast malt complexity. More flavor than mere words can adequately describe. Rich and substantial, it will warm your heart.

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2007 Average initial head that dissipates quickly. Under this lies a completely opaque black stout. Not too much lacing but small traces of foam hold the edges. Nose is very sweet with chocolate hitting me first followed by some coffee-malty-ness. The taste is sooo great. It is bitter like bakers chocolate, but the hops really don’t overwhelm. There is a slight taste of burnt bread, but even this is very pleasant. It was extremely drinkable with almost no trace of alcohol, more less 9.1 percent of it! The end is predominantly coffee like. My first Imperial Stout.

12 fl oz bottle from Brewdog online store. Black browm colour, foamy beige head leaving alittle lacing and aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, liquorice with a juicy dark fruit hoppy edge. Taste is smokey roast malt, molasses, earthy, coffee, with an underlying woody fruity grassy spicey hop bitterness. Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation, warming dry roast bitter finish. Very drinkable.

This one’s a winner. Pours a super dark brown color, and has a khaki head. I have to give appearance a knock here: I like my imperial stouts to have a dark chocolate head. Has great lacing and alcohol legs though. Aroma is lots of piney hops up front, then the chocolate, oak, woody characteristics, coffee, vanilla, etc take over. The taste is uber smokey and woody, with a little vanilla and mild chocolate. Mouthfeel is a little thin for my liking in an imperial stout. Another slight knock, but this is a standout beer, and I"ll definitely try it again, especially in the winter months.

12 oz Bottle. Tasted on 6/22/14. Bottle from Total Wine Dallas, TX. The aroma has coffee, espresso, dark chocolate & a strong hop aroma as well. The taste is rich & smooth with a well balanced finish that is slightly bitter. A very dry finish & not too much sweetness. My kind of stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from BrewDog mail order. Poured black, with a dense beige head. Aroma of earthy malt, dark fruit and scotch. Roasted malt and smooth molasses flavours, with some prunes. Finish is dark rum, tobacco and burnt malt.

12oz bottle Deep dark, near black, almost opaque body, verging on tan, borderline creamy head atop. Aroma is intense, hop dominant just for a point of difference; pine/cedar sap, resiny leafiness, bitter orange, grapefruit, touch of passionfruit and grass, with background of bitter chocolate & espresso. Full body, doesn’t give away much, oily creamy texture, lingering acrid roasted quality to it, lowish carbonation. Not as aggressive as many of this style; lots of coffee bean, burnt toast, charred meatiness, licorice, dried leafy herbs, citrus & tropical fruits come through a bit later with woody hop spice. Assertive bitterness on a long, slightly warm finish. Very good, a different offering in this "American-style" Imperial stout sub-sub catagory - perhaps a bit leaner & drier, reminiscent of a dry stout meets a DIPA. Nice regardless.

From a four pack. Poured big and frothy. Tan head. Great lacing. Smells of hops, espresso, and prunes. Tastes very hoppy. Not as intense as a stout. A bit more like a black double IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice billowy head, and deep black color. Beer was thick and a bit creamy on the palate. Just my opinion, but this beer was great in appearance but lacking in taste. Not truly a bad taste, just not my thing. Maybe I’m a purist but I don’t like the floral and citrusy taste of the hops in this beer. They just don’t mix well in a stout for me...
