Commercial Description:
With a huge, Pacific Northwest hop aroma & character upfront, Storm King subsides into massive, roast malt complexity. More flavor than mere words can adequately describe. Rich and substantial, it will warm your heart.

Black with tan head. Espresso and hops with raisin malt. Complex ,yet even. Tastes strike slowly. alcohol is present without being overbearing. Hops comes through at the end. Very good.

bottle- tasty- a very smooth and chocolaty imp stout, without overly roasted bitterness or astringency getting in the way. enjoyed it quite a bit.

12oz Bottle. Pours black with almost no head. Coffee, malt and hints of chocolate at the start and then an uppercut of hops at then end to remind your that you that this is a mans beer. Once my palate became adjusted to the bitter finish, I really enjoyed this one.

storm king is good stout, coffe-bakers choc all the way through with just enough hops to dry it out on the finish, this storm will wreck your pathetic trailer and toss your shitty pick-up blocks away

Wasn’t blown away by this Imperial Stout, it was very unasuming, balanced and complex. You think it would knock you over with power and brute force, it doesn’t. Nose was burbon, smoke, peat, coal, and somewhat dark floral notes. Persistant finish. Great beer and was only around $2 for a 12oz, not bad.

Bottle. Pours black with a small tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of roasted malt, bitter hops, and coffee. Flavor of weaker sweet roasted malts, bitter hops. The mouthfeel is nice and full and richens as the beer warms. The flavors are a bit weak for a top notch imperial stout. Rather bitter as well. The first time I had this beer I wasn’t particularly impressed and the same holds true in this revist. It lacks the rich intensity of the great imperial stouts and reminds me of a regular stout with a full-bodied palate. Still a good beer to try, but it’s nothing great.
Update 7/10/08: Had this beer again on gravity keg at Blind Tiger. The flavor is completely dominated by coffee and roasted malt. Very roasted. A little tastier than the bottled version, but there’s still not a lot going on here.
