BigMilly8 (352), Holiday, Florida, USA Mar 11, 2008 From bottle : Pours ver dark with a light brown half finger head, and ok lacing. The aroma is a little faint to me. But i get roasted coffee beans up front, then rich dark choclate on the back end of my whiff. Very thick stuff. Rich expresso taste with dark chocolate and a mild hop presence are the dominate flavors im getting here, it is a nice blend and well balanced. Very thick oily mouthfeel. Roastedness and some alochol on the aftertaste. Pretty yummy beer no doubt.
Elmowl (11), Annandale, New Jersey, USA Jul 22, 2008 Almost black beer with creamy head and chocolate aroma. Dark chocolate and espresso flavors predominate with hints of raisin and floral hops. Creamy, rich and complex. I really liked this one! joeymacaroni (35), West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 21, 2008 hold this baby up to light and you can’t see through it. truly amazing imperial stout. aroma of smoke and molasses and coffee. flavor is complex, with tons of black coffee, bakers chocolate, roasted chocolate maltiness joining in a well balanced mix of hoppy bitterness. kinda like motor oil, if you go for that sort of thing. finish is bitter and dry and lasts forever. sebletitje (147), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 21, 2008 Bottle courtesy of cartdan.
Color is black with a brownish head. Aroma is llightly roasted, some coffee and maybe a hint of toffee/chocolate. Taste is sweet, hoppy for a very mild bitter touch and malty, some touch of licorice and light lactose. FunkyBrewster (109), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 20, 2008 Pours a dark brown black color with a small light brown froth. Looks like espresso. Aroma is dark chocolate and coffee with a mot of roasted malt. Flavor starts out with chocolate and sweet malt. Bitterness arrives abruptly in the middle and stays through the finish which has a very strong black coffee taste that lingers. Full bodied and quite rich with a sticky mouth feel. This is an excellent sipper that I shared a 12 oz bottle with two other people and it is so rich that I did not need any more than 4 oz worth. Great beer elihapa (200), Hawaii, USA Jul 19, 2008 3/23/08 notes: poured from 12 oz. bottle, I think this beer is incredible. Big nose of dark chocolate, coffee, smoke, some dark fruit. Full-bodied, complex flavor: roasted malts, molasses, coffee all balanced perfectly. Alcohol is well hidden. So smooth, with a nice mouthfeel and a touch of malty molasses-prune sweetness before a creamy bitter hoppy finish. This beer is tasty and very satisfying (especially for the price).
