3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a dark brownish black colour with a massive pale brown head. The nose is a blend of super bitter hops (with notes of lemon, pine, resin and mint) and a ridiculous amount of roasted/burnt malt (coffee beans, dark choklad and some soil). Loads of acidic notes both from the hops and the malt. The flavour is of burnt malt - burnt pancakes, coffee beans, cocoa beans/really (really!) dark chocolate and burnt sugar - and very bitter hops with notes of citrus fruits, mint and resin. Some sweetness. Too much acid in the taste if you ask me. Pretty nice and round mouthfeel which (unfortunately) disappears in a cloud of bitterness. Salty finish with some peppary alcohol. There is no doubt, this is a a good beer. It’s just that I’m so effin’ tired of super hoppy imperial stouts...

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bue à la pression. Amertume présente dès l’attaque. Plutôt corpulente, on note des arômes de café, d’alcool.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours black with a tan head. Taste chocolate, roasted malt. I thought this was good. I could drink this again.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at The Antelope in Surbiton. Strong hop profile, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, quite a sweet finish with alcohol evident. Really full-bodied making it an incredibly satisfying mouthful. Might have been wise to take more time savouring this though rather than drinking it quickly and moving onto whiskies.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle to glass. Pours black, little head. Aroma is bittersweet chocolate, coffee malts. Taste is bitter dark chocolate, hints of black coffee, some spices. Palate is medium thick, flavor lingers for a long time on palate. Overall a bold, but good imperial stout.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours black, with a cream head which quickly dissipates, leaving foamy bubbles around the rim. Aroma- liquorice, dark fruit, cherry, quite a lot of hops, smells a lot like a foreign stout. Taste- full and creamy mouthfeel, very thick, a big, big roasty flavour, bitter coffee, cocoa powder, dark fruit hints, long, espresso finish. Quite intense. Gets more roasty and creamy, with some dark chocolate, as it warms. Impressive.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Interesting and unique for the style. Not as roasted as typical. Flavors of dark berries, bitter dark chocolate, coffee and licorice. As it warms, licorice becomes more pronounced. Hints of molasses and caramelized sugar.
