Brewed locally at the Victory Brewery in Chester County, the Summer of Love Ale is a golden ale made with pale malts, German hops and Brandywine River water. This specific style of beer was chosen because it has a broad appeal and will be accessible for casual beer drinkers, but will still retain exciting hop notes.

The brew has a vibrant and refreshing pale color derived from its lean and refreshing malt body. And the initially floral aroma of hops segues into a well integrated, refreshing hop dryness of European heritage.

Bottle. Clear gold pour with thin foamy white head. Aroma is grainy, faint dusty hop, peppery leafy notes, light floral character, bready. Taste is bready, rather honey forward with a fresh peppery flavor. Palate is light bodied, med-dry with good carbonation. Better than expected.

Draft at Barbaro. Pale golden, with a little white head. A mildly hoppy aroma. Crisp, malty flavor. Good summer beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours golden with a large fading head. Nose shows floral, grassy, herbal and earthy hops with some soft light malt underneath hinting at honey. Very similar flavours. The hops are more grassy rather than floral though and a biscuity malt note replaces the honey.

Clear slightly pale golden with a thin Rocky white cap. Cracker and blonde malt nose backed by a firm west coast grapefruit and grassy hop resins. The flavor has a crisp and firm grassy and slightly piney hop flavor but then it calms down to a crisp and crackery German lagerish maltiness.

Pours light gold with no head. Aroma is estery with sweet orange and lemon. Flavor is more light citrus but with some fairly substantial biscuity malt. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A pretty simple beer. Not much aroma, with a light, slightly effervescent body. Tasty summer beer

I was a bit surprised to find this is an ale. The aroma and flavor remind me strongly of Jack’s Abby’s Hoponius Union, albeit a much lighter version. In any case, this is a mostly floral and citrus blonde with a very light body and a hint of pepperiness which normally would come from the yeast that must be instead be coming from the Noble hops or an adjunct?. The hop flavors are bit more forward than most beers of this style... which I like. But it’s a bit watery and drinks more like an older style vienna lager than expected.

Clear and white head. Aroma of light pale malt and faint citrus hops. Flavor is mostly pale malt, sweet and dry. There is some faint pine and citrus hops in the background. Medium light body. Very drinkable, slightly hopped aftertaste.

EBD 8/18/15. Clear golden pour. Normal head volume, lacing and retention. Outstanding light nose of tropical and floral hops (mango, orange, pear) with a touch of spice (pepper) over a mild biscuit. As it warms, a bit of earthy hops also appear. Heavy light body that is smooth textured, but has a slight oily aspect as well. Above normal carbonation with a good effervescence in the middle and a fairly prickly finish. Quite flavorful for a blond ale, the outstanding flavor profile is intense, somewhat complex and nicely balanced. It begins to separate in the effervescent middle yielding a blend of hop flavors detailed in the nose. The bitterness is mild and only hints at a rind quality. As the hop flavor subsides, a mild biscuit arrives to balance coupled with a subtle pepper flavor. The finish is a slow mild bitterness fade of orange rind.
