Brewed locally at the Victory Brewery in Chester County, the Summer of Love Ale is a golden ale made with pale malts, German hops and Brandywine River water. This specific style of beer was chosen because it has a broad appeal and will be accessible for casual beer drinkers, but will still retain exciting hop notes.

The brew has a vibrant and refreshing pale color derived from its lean and refreshing malt body. And the initially floral aroma of hops segues into a well integrated, refreshing hop dryness of European heritage.

Pours a medium light gold with a foamy white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma has a nice light malty sweetness but on the lower end of the low to moderate fruitiness that is characteristic of the style. No diacetyl or phenolic aromas. Good carbonation and mouthfeel with a little bitterness on the back end. The hops are refreshing and definitely on the bitter side of the hop to malt balance at first but mellows as you drink then you get the floral/resin flavor of the german hops. The beer finishes dry and is a great summer beer, which is what it is marketed as, and I think is a good example of a blonde ale, after the bitterness coats your mouth the malts actually do come through with a malty mixture of pale base that is bready and a little caramel to add some complexity.

Bottle poured a clear golden with a large white head and minimal lacing. Aroma includes grapefruit, grass, and a hint of buttermilk biscuit. Taste is lemon and peach upfront with a grassy crisp finish. Very drinkable beer that lives up to its name.

Grows on you. Hops stand out. It took a couple to realize how light it is while the hops take over.

From bottle. Nice hoppy nose, resin and pine and mild citrus. Very herbal, strong hop notes. Very dry with carbonic tang. Clear golden with white head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Dry ale with mild pale malt sweetness. Big hop flavor throughout with bitter bold finish. Carbonic tang with herbal resiny bitter after.

Pours a clear golden yellow. Nose is full of citrus. Tastes more like an IPA to my buds, nice bitterness and hoppiness. Nice finish, I personally would not call this a summer thirst quencher.........drinks easily but a summer quencher ? Regardless, not bad, Quaff Score 6 / 10

Pours a clear golden yellow with a white head and citrusy aroma. Taste is sweet, lots of citrus, peach, hops, and grapefruit with a bitter, dry finish. Very drinkable and enjoyable, nice summer seasonal.

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2012 On tap at Mellow Mushroom. Clear, pale yellow color. Not a bug head. Immediate hop smell, but then clear grapefruit. Hoppy, smooth taste. Nice summer beer, but stayed too floral through the drinking process. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Fantastic hops punch, yet surprisingly light on the pallet. Not too much alcohol, perfect for hot days. Just might be my new favorite.
