Brewed locally at the Victory Brewery in Chester County, the Summer of Love Ale is a golden ale made with pale malts, German hops and Brandywine River water. This specific style of beer was chosen because it has a broad appeal and will be accessible for casual beer drinkers, but will still retain exciting hop notes.

The brew has a vibrant and refreshing pale color derived from its lean and refreshing malt body. And the initially floral aroma of hops segues into a well integrated, refreshing hop dryness of European heritage.

Aroma - Fruit and some spice. Smells crisp and fresh with just a tinge of alcohol content present. Smells better as the glass empties. Appearance - Clear and golden with a nice 1 finger head that persist throughout the majority of the session. Light in color to match the summery flavor. Taste - A medium amount of bitterness for a blond ale, but absolutely welcome. The hoppy scent is aided by the hoppy finish that lingers. Bitterness leaves a fresh taste that persists, but not too hoppy to resist throwing back a few. Tastes floral with a sweet caramel malt in the background. No off flavors I can recognize. Palate - Light and playful on the palate. Bitter finish that lasts, but isnít unpleasant. Light body, overall lighter beer with the perfect amount of carbonation and flavor for a summer day. Overall - Great beer that fits in well with hoppier golden ales. Akin to Victory Prima Pils in the bitter light ale sense, but clearly a different family of hops. Will be drinking this again.

355ml bottle. Clear, yellow-ish golden colour with average, creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Protein-impregnated, grainy, strawy aroma, mild citrusy hoppy overtones, hints of lemon zest. Taste is slightly dry, citrusy hoppy, minimally strawy, pale malty basis, hints of lemon zest; rather light, monotonous and slightly watery.

Pours a somewhat cloudy straw color. About one and half fingers white soapy head. Itís a runny head, but thereís good retention, and runny lacing.

Aroma is earthy hops. Thereís plenty of citrus and grapefruit. I smell some grains, but the hops are quite powerful, it drowns out most everything else.

Taste is hop forward. Citrusy and lightly malty. Thereís not a lot to say about it, but I donít think it is mean to be complex by any means.

Mouthfeel is light body. Itís very light, refreshing. Maybe a little unbalanced, too much hops and citrus and not enough malt. But highly drinkable.

Overall, this would make a great summer beer. I love the label. This would make an amazing beer to sit and watch a baseball game. This reminds me a lot of a pilsener, and thatís okay, because I like pilseners. Yeah, this one is worth a try.

BB 22 DEC 2015. Poured a clear golden colour with a two-finger white foamy head that retained OK and laced OK. Carbonation moderate with fine to medium bubbles. Aroma with sweet malt plus citrus/lemon and hints of hops; all moderate and none over-powers the other. Taste subtly of lemon followed by a very slight bitterness. Light body. Crisp, refreshing, clean, light and smooth but a bit bland. Very much like many other macro-brewed golden ales.

Bottle pour. Kind of boring and I didnít really like the hop taste. There are much better blond aleís out there.

12 oz. bottle at a charity event. A little out of season but it beat the macro offerings available. Pours a clear yellow-gold with a small, lasting white head. Notes of tea, grass, crackery and slightly sweet biscuit malts, earth, faint toasted grain, and a light herbal note that may have gone down with time. Light-bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a smooth, earthy, grassy mouthfeel. Good for the style, although I need to try it fresher.

From can. Perfectly clear golden body with a thin white head and lively carbonation. Aromas are light - some crackers, grass and flowers. Taste is more interesting, with lime, lemon, a little banana and some cut grass. Finishes very cleanly as expected leaving a light grassy aftertaste. Straightforward easy drinking style.

Can, not sure from where. Lightly sweet grasses, lemon, grasses. Not a huge fan.
