Brewed locally at the Victory Brewery in Chester County, the Summer of Love Ale is a golden ale made with pale malts, German hops and Brandywine River water. This specific style of beer was chosen because it has a broad appeal and will be accessible for casual beer drinkers, but will still retain exciting hop notes.

The brew has a vibrant and refreshing pale color derived from its lean and refreshing malt body. And the initially floral aroma of hops segues into a well integrated, refreshing hop dryness of European heritage.

$11.99 for a six pack in DC. A great mixture of a blonde ale with European hops. Great taste with a fantastic kick of semi-bitter hops at the end. Very crisp and drinkable, especially in the heat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

BB 22 DEC 2015. Poured a clear golden colour with a two-finger white foamy head that retained OK and laced OK. Carbonation moderate with fine to medium bubbles. Aroma with sweet malt plus citrus/lemon and hints of hops; all moderate and none over-powers the other. Taste subtly of lemon followed by a very slight bitterness. Light body. Crisp, refreshing, clean, light and smooth but a bit bland. Very much like many other macro-brewed golden ales.

Bottle pour. Kind of boring and I didn’t really like the hop taste. There are much better blond ale’s out there.

12 oz. bottle at a charity event. A little out of season but it beat the macro offerings available. Pours a clear yellow-gold with a small, lasting white head. Notes of tea, grass, crackery and slightly sweet biscuit malts, earth, faint toasted grain, and a light herbal note that may have gone down with time. Light-bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a smooth, earthy, grassy mouthfeel. Good for the style, although I need to try it fresher.

12 fl. oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy golden colour with a mid sized white head. Aroma of fresh hops, tropical fruits. Taste is very hoppy, pale malt, grassy, mild tropical fruits, good!

From can. Perfectly clear golden body with a thin white head and lively carbonation. Aromas are light - some crackers, grass and flowers. Taste is more interesting, with lime, lemon, a little banana and some cut grass. Finishes very cleanly as expected leaving a light grassy aftertaste. Straightforward easy drinking style.

Pours clear yellow. A nice whiff of fruity hops, grapefruit, tangerine, maybe pear. Similar taste maybe some lemon ,lightly bitter, enough slightly sweet malt for balance. Overall very good for a summer ale. Will have to try it on a hot day.

Summer Love pours a lovely golden color with ample white head, well-retained, and lively carbonation. The aroma is grassy but the actual hop character was much more grapefruit than the aroma let on. The body is medium and the malt backing is adequate for the bitterness, but the grapefruit flavor was the dominant flavor. It was drinkable if not outstanding.

A steady pour into my teku glass produces a one finger thick, pale, off-white colored head. The beer is a golden honey color that shows a brilliantly clear, rich golden hue when held up to the light. The aroma as I pour this beer smells brightly of pale malt; a bright hay like note, a depth of pale grain cracker like character, and something that reminds me of threshing grain, and there is even a subtle hint of honey-like malt character. A more focused inspection yields a bright hop character as well; this accentuates the hay-like character with a grassy-herbal aroma, but also contributes soft notes of lemon zest, perhaps a touch of black pepper, as well as a soft touch of mint, and a touch of nettle.

The beer has a nice bitterness to it that adds a bit of bite without being harsh. This bitterness melds with an herbal hop character that leans towards pine, woody pepper, a touch of sage, and just a clean, woody herbal note. The beer is quite dry, yet has some texture to it as it slowly coats the palate initially, before finishing quite light in the finish. The carbonation adds some effervescent texture that adds a peppery carbonic bite as well as a prickly texture that works well with the light body of this beer. Up front this has a chewy, straw like, sunbaked whole grain flavor to it that is softened just a touch by a chewy pale grain cracker maltiness and soft rustic white bread chewiness; this is dominated by the hops towards the finish, but still manages to linger lightly there as well.

This is a really nice beer that I would happily quaff a lot of (if I had easy access). Light, clean, refreshing, but with tons of character
