COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed locally at the Victory Brewery in Chester County, the Summer of Love Ale is a golden ale made with pale malts, German hops and Brandywine River water. This specific style of beer was chosen because it has a broad appeal and will be accessible for casual beer drinkers, but will still retain exciting hop notes.

The brew has a vibrant and refreshing pale color derived from its lean and refreshing malt body. And the initially floral aroma of hops segues into a well integrated, refreshing hop dryness of European heritage.

A steady pour into my teku glass produces a one finger thick, pale, off-white colored head. The beer is a golden honey color that shows a brilliantly clear, rich golden hue when held up to the light. The aroma as I pour this beer smells brightly of pale malt; a bright hay like note, a depth of pale grain cracker like character, and something that reminds me of threshing grain, and there is even a subtle hint of honey-like malt character. A more focused inspection yields a bright hop character as well; this accentuates the hay-like character with a grassy-herbal aroma, but also contributes soft notes of lemon zest, perhaps a touch of black pepper, as well as a soft touch of mint, and a touch of nettle.

The beer has a nice bitterness to it that adds a bit of bite without being harsh. This bitterness melds with an herbal hop character that leans towards pine, woody pepper, a touch of sage, and just a clean, woody herbal note. The beer is quite dry, yet has some texture to it as it slowly coats the palate initially, before finishing quite light in the finish. The carbonation adds some effervescent texture that adds a peppery carbonic bite as well as a prickly texture that works well with the light body of this beer. Up front this has a chewy, straw like, sunbaked whole grain flavor to it that is softened just a touch by a chewy pale grain cracker maltiness and soft rustic white bread chewiness; this is dominated by the hops towards the finish, but still manages to linger lightly there as well.

This is a really nice beer that I would happily quaff a lot of (if I had easy access). Light, clean, refreshing, but with tons of character

Golden brew with small head that does hang on for a good while. Smells and tastes of floral hops. There is some hints to the malts and a tart flavor showing up now and then. Pretty good brew and very easy drinking, just right for summer. Then there is the fact that it costs $2 a six pack more than some other comparable brews so overall would have loved it more if it was cheaper.

Can @ home. Clear straw colored beer with sticky white foam. Sort of a lemony and slightly herbal note, perhaps thyme. Cracker malts, some bread, and biscuit. Sweeter than expected. Sort of a grassy and woody herb bitterness to the finish. Lots of sweet dinner roll malt character to the flavor. Slight honey, too. Not bad. Good for its purpose.

Bottle pour into frosty mug. Aroma is floral, with hints of hay. Golden color with a nice white foam head. Taste is light and sweet with slightly hoppy and bitter finish. Body is light, texture is thin, and carbonation is average. A solid choice for a hot summer day, as the name implies.

Gift from a neighbor, 12 oz bottle. Appearance is gold with a slight haze and a thin white foam collar. Aroma is fresh cut grass and some light fruit. Taste is crisp with a big fresh light malt palate, spicy and herbal. Palate is medium light body. Overall is refreshing full flavored beer, easy to drink.

Bottle. Clear gold pour with thin foamy white head. Aroma is grainy, faint dusty hop, peppery leafy notes, light floral character, bready. Taste is bready, rather honey forward with a fresh peppery flavor. Palate is light bodied, med-dry with good carbonation. Better than expected.

Draft at Barbaro. Pale golden, with a little white head. A mildly hoppy aroma. Crisp, malty flavor. Good summer beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours golden with a large fading head. Nose shows floral, grassy, herbal and earthy hops with some soft light malt underneath hinting at honey. Very similar flavours. The hops are more grassy rather than floral though and a biscuity malt note replaces the honey.
