demdeac40 (238), Etowah, North Carolina, USA Aug 15, 2005 Updated: Nov 28, 2006An incredible american version of a German Weiss beer. This is the ultimate summer beer. wilkie (1189), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Aug 15, 2005 Bottle. Cloudy, pale with small white head. Very carbonated. Extremely yeasty aroma of bananas. Flavor is similar with citrus undertones and a nice crisp finish. Spicy aftertaste.
TheBeerGod (3143), Newport News, Virginia, USA Aug 13, 2005 Bottle. Clouded gold. Enormous, fluffy white head. Nose is wheat and yeast with light citrus, faint spice, mild banana notes, and light bubblegum. Taste is much the same. Wheat, light yeast notes, light spice, bananas galore, light citrus and bubblegum. Body is light and refreshing, which is typical for the style but this is also thirst quenching, which may or may not follow, depending on the quality. Could be that it’s over 100ºF today, but it’s still quenching. Finish with a bit more bitter with wheat, yeast, bananas, sweet malts, and bubblegum. Dry citrusy notes at times and mixed spiciness. Not bad! jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Aug 13, 2005 12 oz bottle-pours a big white head. Color is a cloudy straw. Aroma is malty wheat, citrus. Taste is a bit strong on the (spice-cloves), creamy, good carbonation. mkobes (2103), paramus, New Jersey, USA Aug 9, 2005 Bottle. Pale yellow in color with a white head. Lots of citrus in the aroma. Banana and clove notes. Fruity. Thin tasting. Citrus hops. Flavor is malty and citrusy. A little fizzy. Drinkable. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA Aug 9, 2005 Bottle. Cloudy pale yellow, white head. Clovey citrus aroma, slight banana. Spritzy clovey malt with slight citrus again. A little thin on the palate. Slight hops. A little wit like. JK (2945), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Aug 2, 2005 Much more of a wit than a hefe. A bit sour with several spices; some citrus. Very cloudy and orange but the head is unimpressive after the waitress went to the trouble of turning the bottle upside down over the glass. A good wheat, but I am surprised to see it in the hefeweizen style. jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Aug 1, 2005 Pours, yes, a sunrise yellow and gold. Very yeasty on the nose and tongue. Lots of sachet and sour, tangy pear on the nose. The flavor is wheaty but complex. Palate is creamy and light, with just a hint of berry on the finish. I don’t get banana/clove on this weiss, but I do see the possibility that pineapple figures into the equation. Intriguing beer.
