2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 KajII (705) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - DEC 21, 2010Bottle. Poured a medium DEEP yellow with a small white fizzy head that was fully diminishing and had fair lacing. the aroma was heavy of wheat and grain malts, leathery yeasty with a nice hint of citrus hops and notes of banana. It tasted quite yeasty and mildly bitter from beginning to end with the finish having a nice yeasty/citrus aftertaste. Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with a strong fizzy carbonation. Overall a nice refreshing brew that is very drinkable, but very light.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 jbruner (1129) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - FEB 25, 2013
Pours a translucent gold on tap with fluffy white head that doesn’t really stick on the way down. Aroma of german esters and wheat, slight citrus, taste follows minus the citrus. Bubbly and dry, easy to drink, but not a great example of the style.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 stevencon (275) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - FEB 23, 2013
On rap at dalia’s. Mostly clear pour white head. Aroma of wheat dry earth and vanilla. Similar taste finishes dry.

Sample at Buckeye Beer Engine on 9/11/12. Clear yellow color with a thick white head. Aroma of banana, clove and light berry. Banana and clove flavor with a sweet finish. Not really my thing.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 lushawn (2654) - Massachusetts, USA - SEP 5, 2012
tap. notes of softed toast, creamed wheat, touch of vanilla. soft herbs. touch of overripened pear. pretty good, but not as good as weihenstephenaoisf or ayigiger hefeweizen IMHO
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 MrChopin (2527) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - AUG 10, 2012
least transparent, least effervescent of three, longest lasting spotty white head+ring. Nose more wheat than mad king, less banana and more bubblegum esters. Flavor highlights wheat more, more simple but less sugar, dryer across mid before light grain and fruit finish, even field-like, soft and creamy texture highlights malt better than mad king. And I don’t even like wheat beers.
Whirlwind v. Mad King v. Sunrise all on tap at brewery go:
1. Sunrise 2. Mad King 3. Whirlwind
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 JAXSON (481) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 25, 2012
Surprised I haven’t rated this as I’ve enjoyed it from the brewpub many times, still reviewing this from memory though. Pours a fairly hazy straw gold with a fluffy white head. Color is a touch darker and hazier than the Whirlwind. Nose is aromatic esters, dry earthy yeast, light citrus, fresh wheat grains. Mouth is wonderfully fluffy and soft, noticeably more so than Whirlwind or Mad King. Light esters, fresh cracked grains, a really good yeast strain on the finish where soil, grass, and other dry flavors shine. Unfiltered, more complex and interesting than Whirlwind. Softer and way less hop-forward than Mad King. Fresh on tap this is wonderful stuff.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Chapel (468) - Levittown, New York, USA - APR 24, 2012
Floral, banana, wheat with some lemon citrus. That about sums it up the flavor and aroma. Fairly fizzy makes it feel somewhat soda like.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 cooplander (543) - Florida, USA - FEB 24, 2012
color is straw gold, not as hazy as most, aroma of banana. clove, wheat, and coriander, taste of banana, clove, wheat, and bitter orange, high carbonation makes for an champagne feel, very good representation of the style
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ddemmingjr (593) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - FEB 1, 2012
pours hazy straw, two finger off white head. Banana, clove, grass and herbal notes on the nose. Lemon, yeast, wheat, sweet malts. reminiscent of Franziskaner. higher carbonation, crisp, refreshing and solid for the style.
