It’s a lively jazz rhythm, a vigorous sway, a change of view or even a roll in the proverbial hay. Now it also means the welcome jolt of joy you’ll experience upon your first sip of this session saison. Bracing, but benign, this Belgian style ale enlivens any experience with a spicy, aromatic start, citrus snap and fresh finish. Swing into spring with taste!

12oz bottle from ABC Wesley Chapel. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Nose is some light malt, some citrus, some fruity Belgian yeast, and some earthy notes. Flavor begins with some mildly sweet and apple-esque notes followed by a sweet and somewhat fruity Belgian yeast leading to a somewhat dry finish. Light in body and nicely sessionable.

Comes out of the tap a nice, bubbly, clear golden with a fine-bubbled white head. Hearty aroma is quite yeasty, with fruity and subtle malty notes. Crisp flavor has yeasty, malty, fruity, and coriander tones - definitely for sipping rather than chugging. Texture has average thickness and fizz, but scarcely subtracts from the enjoyableness of this brew. Swing a session with this one.

Sample pour at a festival. Pours mostly clear yellow with creamy white head. Aroma is cereal and cracker malts, floral notes, light herbs, farmhouse yeast esters, and light fruit notes. Flavor is dry malt base, yeasty and light fruit esters, light hops, and faint herbs; dry finish. Light/medium body and medium carbonation.

A sharp aroma that smells like you bathed a skunk in lemon juice. Misty, bright gold with a white filmy head. Good label, standard US longneck. Mineral, lightly astringent, lemon zest, funky notes. Medium to slightly light body, low carbo. Hoppy, lemon finish. ABC, Betton.

bottle. Golden with one finger head. Light bodied saison with mild flavor and very little funk. Still, this is a very nice refreshing beer.

Pint on tap. Lightly hazy golden body with a lasting disc of cream on top. Mild aroma of pine resin and earthy lemon honey. Tastes of earthy beeswax, resin and a touch of white grape skins. Medium body is dry and tingly with high carbonation.

Rated on 02-28-2013 at Victory B.C. This beer is presented with a small white head that is mostly lasting, transparent pale yellow body, fast rising carbonation observed, and a fair amount of lacing adorns my glass. The aroma is citrus, earthy hops, spicy, yeast, and malt. The flavor is citrus hops, yeast, spicy, caramel malt, and light bitter. The mouthfeel is lively carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. A very quaffable saison and worth trying.

12 ounce bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. Appearance: Pours a hazed, light straw-hued body with a medium-small, white head. Smell: Fragrant citrus shrouds the particularly pale maltiness, with bits of grain-flecked dough with subtle florals and a melange of spiciness. Taste: Pils malts, hints of other such grains sprinkled with a fine dusting of powdered sugar. Floral hints meld into citrus notes from the hops and citrus fruit additions which shimmy into a spiciness from the yeast, peppercorns, and hops, aided by the crisp carbonation. Dry, spicy finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-high carbonation for a lively, zippy mouthfeel. Overall: I’d always thought the Victory V / Helios Ale saison was a bit too chewy for me, bodywise. This new Swing Session Saison is bright, light, and refreshing.
