Itís a lively jazz rhythm, a vigorous sway, a change of view or even a roll in the proverbial hay. Now it also means the welcome jolt of joy youíll experience upon your first sip of this session saison. Bracing, but benign, this Belgian style ale enlivens any experience with a spicy, aromatic start, citrus snap and fresh finish. Swing into spring with taste!

Fair saison, on tap at MacGregor Amherst. Light yellow with carbonation bubbles. A story in pepper.

355mL from Total Wine, Jax FL. Pours a bright golden with heavier sparkling carbonation. Soapy, bright white head. Good lacing. Nose at first is a lot of poopy toilet with lemon disinfectant, moving thankfully to chamomile and some gamey spices. But that poopy aroma is off putting. Taste is herbal adjunct bomb with chamomile, lavender, lemon peel. Intense herbal hops to drive it home. Palate is a bit chalky and mildly anesthetic/medicinal from the herb adjunct overload. Not so refreshing. I thought we got past the point of doing a spiced Belgian blonde ale = saison.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Pours a hazy straw color with a thin frothy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of pale malts, herbal notes, faint tartness. The taste is bubblegum, spices, stone fruits, herbal notes, pineapple, pale malts. Medium bodied, refreshing.

Bottle at Dave & Christines, cheers Dave, Thanksgiving warm down 28/11/13. Hazed golden orange with a good sized off white covering that thins and trains as a pond. Nose is lemon rind, herbal qualities, straw, bitter orange notes, pinch of spice. Taste comprises citric dipped straw, lemon sherbet, tarte apricot, orange pith, lime juice, farmy, light spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp and refreshing in the closure. Solid saison.

bottle. hazy gold body, short white head. basically a witbier, just like ernie said. musty perfume, orange jam (jelly? i already told you once), potpourri orange peel and sulfuric vitamin yeast in the nose. lean, dry, bitter texture and flavor. brash dryness with bracing hop acidity, totally unbalanced. okay, it doesnít taste bad, itís not the smell and flavor. itís how out of balance it is. thereís nothing here to make me want another drink. itís horribly bitter and rough for itís size. ugh.

MartinT (7677) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 24, 2014
My Bottom Line:
This estery Saison shares plenty of fruitiness and herbs in a lean and quenching mouthfeel.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam settles atop the misty yellow.
-This is just as flavorful as many 6%+ Saisons.
-Carbonation is not as fluffy and airy as I would have liked it to be (for this style).
-Herbal hop bitterness balances out the finish.
-Spices are well blended into the overall profile of the beer.

Bottle.

Dogbrick (7585) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 25, 2013
This beer is a hazy pale golden color with a medium fizzy white head that burns away quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Malt, fruit and floral hops in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of herbal hops, bready malt and fruit. The finish is mildly spiced with a short zesty lemon aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle. Musty lemon/orange peel and light malt aroma. Pale yellow with moderate head. Musty dry bitter lemon peel and malt flavor. Solid - very nice.

Ughsmash (7086) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 5, 2013
Bottled. Poured clear, bright golden with a sticky white head. The aroma picked up bright spices (grains of paradise and a little coriander maybe?) ofer soft bready malts.. almost a little green garlic toward the back of the nose.. kinda weird. The flavor found tangy spices similar to the nose, plus grapefruit zest throughout.. light bready support again.. finished spicy and tangy. Light-bodied and over-spiced on the palate.. too much competing for attention.. fairly refreshing overall, but not that enjoyable.
