12 ounce bottle. Slightly hazy straw gold color topped by a small bubbly white head. Fragrant lemony malt aroma has hints of coriander and hay. Dryish citrus malt flavor with notes of wheat, yeast, more coriander and grassy hops. Their is an underlying funky, sulphury earthiness that adds a uniqueness to this ale. Finishes crisp and dry with atouch of lemon peel.

Strong lemon, herbal aroma. Lively carbonation, floral. Very good spring beer. Session is a fair description. Could drink many. Liked it even more as it went on. Light hop finish.

Pours a slightly cloudy light yellow with a foamy white head. Lemon, spice, yeast aroma. Good carbonation, fizzy mouthfeel with a very slightly bitter lemon peel finish. Light, citrusy, refreshing body. Yeast takes a back seat to the fruit making it quite light and refreshing.

This is a very light saison with a touch of pepper and citrus. Just a hint of belgian yeast, but this is more like a classic summer ale with a touch of belgian.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2013 On tap at brewpub. Pale clear gold with white head. Rotten eggs dominated and ruined this for me. Wheat, lemon, pepper, floral. Moderately bitter. Light, crisp body. Bumped up the score for the bottle. What I took for rotten eggs in the draft is like something else in the bottle. A tad disagreeable, but not awful. A lot of grapefruit as well as well as some butterscotch. Bumping up my score on this one. I’m starting to dig this as a session beer.

Tap at Sunswick. Poured a thin clear yellow. Nose has some spice hint of hops. Light spice notes in an easy drinker that has a hint of hops. Pretty pleasant.

12 oz bottle, Kroger Bridge St. Light golden; fizzy, white head becomes a negligible ring; light to no lacing. Aroma has a lot of Belgian fruity yeast going on. Bright, citrusy, sweet, spicy. Lively, biscuity, dry, crisp, bitter finish. Lighter body, nearly no stickiness. Solid session brew.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a mildly hazed straw color. The head is a fluffy two finger white shade that collapses pretty quickly, but leaves nice lacing on the glass. S: There is a decent amount of complexity here for a 4.5% saison. I pick up coriander, orange peel, grassy hops, sage, and black pepper. However, there’s also a vegetal green pepper note that’s detracting - and even worse, it gets stronger as it warms up. T: This is weird. It opens up fairly citrusy - which I like - but ends on both a watery and a vegetal note. Decent (if overdone) spicing in the middle gives way to a bell pepper finish that really rubs me the wrong way. The flavor profile sorely lacks balance and cohesion. M: Very clean and dry, which I like. Very astringent too, which I don’t. This beer seemingly parches the palate excessively in the name of drinkability. Ah well, the latter is good, at least. O: Swing...and a miss. This one was quite disappointing, considering Victory makes another saison that’s really damn good. And it’s another damning reminder that they really need to put Helios in 6-packs!
