Yellow gold pour with fluffy white head and clinging lace. Aroma is clove and or coriander. Flavor is earthy spiciness tones of hay and some citrus zest. Light bodied with aggressive carbonation. A little light struck or something a tad off kept this from being really good.

This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy white colored bubbles that were and left behind a typically carbonated transparent white colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was malt hop and grassy. The semi-thick crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start with a mellow finish with a mellow hoppy aftertaste. The mild flavor contained notes of softly acidic grass Irish red malt dough and malt.

12 ounce bottle at Bigelos. Almost clear golden with a smallish off white head. Do I smell a bit of parmesan? Grain and earth, too. Flavor is citrus that has a little bite to it. That grain and soft yeast. Earth is there but is light. The malts are also too soft. A little spiciness cones late. I love the low ABV here but wish the flavor was more robust. It is a trade off, I know.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a pale yellow color with a huge fluffy white head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was a lovely mix of mustiness with moderate notes of pepper, citrus and bread. The flavor was dry, musty, dusty and funky with notes of pepper, bread dough and citrus. Long dry pepper and must finish. Medium body. Solid.

Bottle. Pours a clear and bright straw gold body with a one inch frothy white head that faded to a thin wispy film. The nose comes across as a bit overly spiced with some nice perfume like qualities, light hay, and floral hops. The flavor is a bit too spicy and peppery for my tastes, thereís not much malt or softness from the yeast. Itís very light and thin in texture with fizzy prickly carbonation. I suppose that it is pretty sessionable, but itís really not what I want from a Saison at all. It comes across as too clean and sterile with too much of the flavor derived from added spices instead of from a good Saison yeast.

Pint at Flipside on 5/6/13. Clear gold pour with a thick white head. Aroma of malt, herbs, Belgian yeast and pepper. Malty and herbal flavor with peppery and slight banana yeast before a dry finish. Pretty nice for a session saison.

Let me preface this review by saying that I went in really wanting to love this beer - given the quality of helios, who wouldnít? - by the middle of my first bottle, I was trying really hard just to like it - now, by the middle of my second bottle, I am trying hard not to hate it - first of all, it is not a saison - it is a dry wit - usually, I can be forgiving of adjunct-laden saisons - I had a local one recently that had quite a few adjuncts, but still managed to be quite tasty - perhaps because this is overspiced to the point of being unrecognizable as a saison, I cannot be forgiving - I like the dry, crisp character of the beer - however, all I can taste and smell are spices and a hint of tart citrus - overly bitter throughout - where is my baby helios, god dammit!?

A fresh bottle. Strong and pleasantly herbal nose pushing lemon and rose hips in with the light tartness. With the cleanser feel, has some slight wittish character. Lightly hazy bright yellow body with a lacing white head. Taste is faintly sweet to start but dries out quickly as the bitterness picks up, not so much hoppy as stripping and herbal, nailing those medieval traditionals and bringing light flights of purifying astringency without the rubberiness. Peel and pepper, grainy hay. Clean yeast, fullish body, seems to be less alcoholic than it is, though I think Iíd prefer a lighter body. Honestly, Iím uderwhelmed, but itís fresh and repeatable.

Bottle: The aroma consists of citrus, banana, coriander, floral notes, and pepper. It smells like a Witbier. It pours a transparent dull gold with a small white head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a soapy ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of citrus with a touch of banana. The finish has moderate floral hops, coriander, pepper, and a touch of lemon/lemon peel. Itís light bodied with moderate-heavy carbonation. Overall, it seems like a moderately hopped (floral) Witbier.. Itís not bad, but itís not what I want in a Saison or Wit.

Bottle - Iíd had this before, but I finally just got a chance to buy a fresh six pack this year. This one poured a hazy straw color with a medium-large white head. Aroma was light wheat notes, sweet light citrus character with some coriander, and pepper notes. Flavor was light, sweet grain, pepper, spice. Pretty enjoyable, light and refreshing. Easy to drink and about perfect for Spring.
