Itís a lively jazz rhythm, a vigorous sway, a change of view or even a roll in the proverbial hay. Now it also means the welcome jolt of joy youíll experience upon your first sip of this session saison. Bracing, but benign, this Belgian style ale enlivens any experience with a spicy, aromatic start, citrus snap and fresh finish. Swing into spring with taste!

Bottle - Iíd had this before, but I finally just got a chance to buy a fresh six pack this year. This one poured a hazy straw color with a medium-large white head. Aroma was light wheat notes, sweet light citrus character with some coriander, and pepper notes. Flavor was light, sweet grain, pepper, spice. Pretty enjoyable, light and refreshing. Easy to drink and about perfect for Spring.

On tap at Big Texas Beer Fest. Golden with a white head. The aroma and flavor have some biscuit malt as well as some Belgian yeast notes. I also get a hint of orange citrus as well as some very light earthy funk notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Pailhead (6017) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - JUN 5, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of citrus, banana, coriander, floral notes, and pepper. It smells like a Witbier. It pours a transparent dull gold with a small white head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a soapy ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of citrus with a touch of banana. The finish has moderate floral hops, coriander, pepper, and a touch of lemon/lemon peel. Itís light bodied with moderate-heavy carbonation. Overall, it seems like a moderately hopped (floral) Witbier.. Itís not bad, but itís not what I want in a Saison or Wit.

Decent saison with some bitter hay and grass on the top. Pours cloudy pale with good head and lacing. Decent amount of barnyard in here with hay and musk. Finishes grassy bitter. Soft carbonation. Ok for style, has good balance. Some soda water in feel with some cloying. Bottle.

Pint at Flipside on 5/6/13. Clear gold pour with a thick white head. Aroma of malt, herbs, Belgian yeast and pepper. Malty and herbal flavor with peppery and slight banana yeast before a dry finish. Pretty nice for a session saison.

12 ounce bottle at Bigelos. Almost clear golden with a smallish off white head. Do I smell a bit of parmesan? Grain and earth, too. Flavor is citrus that has a little bite to it. That grain and soft yeast. Earth is there but is light. The malts are also too soft. A little spiciness cones late. I love the low ABV here but wish the flavor was more robust. It is a trade off, I know.

UPDATED: JUN 29, 2013 (Draught) clearish bright gold, lasting soapy white bubbles and decent lacing. Nose is earthy, rose water, Czech/noble hops. Taste is peppercorns, earthy, bit soapy, light earthy bitterness that also lingers on the palate, rye or some other spicy component. Interesting but too spicy and earthy.

FROTHINGSLOSH (5768) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 22, 2013
Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a pale yellow color with a huge fluffy white head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was a lovely mix of mustiness with moderate notes of pepper, citrus and bread. The flavor was dry, musty, dusty and funky with notes of pepper, bread dough and citrus. Long dry pepper and must finish. Medium body. Solid.

Hazy golde color with a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of toasted malts, citrus, grass, spices, light pils malt. Taste of light honey, citrus, lemon, toast, spices, and a dry finish.

Bottle. Translucent gold pour with a short, dense, foamy white head. Spicy and grainy nose with hay, straw, flowers, yeast, earthy notes and herbs. Taste is spicy upfront with more grains, toasted malt, flowers, hay, straw notes, earthy hops, fresh herbs and citrus notes. Body is medium with a strong, prickly carbonation. Ends with more spiciness, strong herbal notes, yeast, grains, straw, grass, citrus and hay.
