COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s a lively jazz rhythm, a vigorous sway, a change of view or even a roll in the proverbial hay. Now it also means the welcome jolt of joy you’ll experience upon your first sip of this session saison. Bracing, but benign, this Belgian style ale enlivens any experience with a spicy, aromatic start, citrus snap and fresh finish. Swing into spring with taste!

The aroma is a bit watery, yeasty, and grainy with hints of citrus and lightly spicy. The appearance is hazy gold with a smallish head. The taste is like the aroma with pepper in the finish. The palate is thin. Overall drinkable but it does have an off astringent quality I am not a fan of.

12oz bottle. Gold color. Aroma of hot dog flavored water & citrus. Thin body. Flavors of spice, and herbs (hotdogs), light citrus, and fizzy grain. Very fizzy carbonation. Saisons are not my favorite style. (3701)

A sharp aroma that smells like you bathed a skunk in lemon juice. Misty, bright gold with a white filmy head. Good label, standard US longneck. Mineral, lightly astringent, lemon zest, funky notes. Medium to slightly light body, low carbo. Hoppy, lemon finish. ABC, Betton.

UPDATED: JUN 3, 2013 Had again today, this time froma bottle, not bad at first but has a strong astringent aftertaste. raised from a 1.9 to 2. old rating: On tap at mad mex. Creamy head. Slight perfume aroma. Quite bitter, almost like an IPA. Chewing on green grapefruit rinds manifests itself on the back of the throat. Same with finish. Not impressed. Some mild co2. Was expecting something a little more saison like.

12oz single bottle from Spirits Berkley. Poured a really great looking deep clear dark gold body with lots of rising effervescence and an average sized silky bright white head. Aroma is doughy, perfume, white pepper, rotting lemon and a slight touch of copper. Fuller body with lighter carbonation that finishes dry like eating a piece of toast. Flavor isn’t as good as the aroma and seems a bit dry. Notes of toast, lemon zest, touch of skunk cabbage, pepper and old flowers. Good stuff.

Pours a soft and cloudy pale blonde with a sticky two finger tight white head. Very heavily spiced....very heavily. This one needs to take two steps back and breathe. Very raw and earthy aroma with a heavy spice component and very noticeable over ripe fruit character. Heavy with lemongrass and yeast. Sharp and pretty much astringent spice character in the mouth. I get a lot of ’Sorachi Ace’ here, may just be the herbal spice notes mixed with overripe fruit....which is what Sorachi Ace smells like to me.

Decent saison with some bitter hay and grass on the top. Pours cloudy pale with good head and lacing. Decent amount of barnyard in here with hay and musk. Finishes grassy bitter. Soft carbonation. Ok for style, has good balance. Some soda water in feel with some cloying. Bottle.

Bottle from Sam’s, Durham. All hail the session brew trend. Nicely lemonade-y pour, moderately cloudy, could almost pass for a Berliner crossed with a singel (the fluffy head of the latter gives this one away as farmhouse). Nice nose, citrus wakeup call and spice/yeast to complement. Full bodied, nicely spicy in places on the palate, I was pleased that the herbs didn’t get too assertive, allowing the more bitter and lightly hopped qualities to shine through. Well done. I should get some more.

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours light golden with a white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, light malts, hints of light fruits, and hints of bitterness. Flavor the same with a pretty crisp finish. Average texture. A decent beer, but not the best of the style.

Pale yellow with a thick white head producing loads of webby white lace. Nose lemon verbena, pepper, light melon. Flavor is spicy at first with more lemon, citrus, and a light herbal medley. Dry, lightly herbal, bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
