Itís a lively jazz rhythm, a vigorous sway, a change of view or even a roll in the proverbial hay. Now it also means the welcome jolt of joy youíll experience upon your first sip of this session saison. Bracing, but benign, this Belgian style ale enlivens any experience with a spicy, aromatic start, citrus snap and fresh finish. Swing into spring with taste!

12oz single bottle from Spirits Berkley. Poured a really great looking deep clear dark gold body with lots of rising effervescence and an average sized silky bright white head. Aroma is doughy, perfume, white pepper, rotting lemon and a slight touch of copper. Fuller body with lighter carbonation that finishes dry like eating a piece of toast. Flavor isnít as good as the aroma and seems a bit dry. Notes of toast, lemon zest, touch of skunk cabbage, pepper and old flowers. Good stuff.

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours light golden with a white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, light malts, hints of light fruits, and hints of bitterness. Flavor the same with a pretty crisp finish. Average texture. A decent beer, but not the best of the style.

Aroma is yeast, lemons, citrus, spices and a slightly out of place mustiness. The flavor is lemons, citrus, spices, thick/sticky and a tart/tangy finish.

12oz bottle from ABC Wesley Chapel. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Nose is some light malt, some citrus, some fruity Belgian yeast, and some earthy notes. Flavor begins with some mildly sweet and apple-esque notes followed by a sweet and somewhat fruity Belgian yeast leading to a somewhat dry finish. Light in body and nicely sessionable.

Lemony wheat aroma, light funk. Hazy golden, slight greenish tinge, thin head. Funk is mire in the forefront on the palate. Deceptively dry. Definitely sessionable, but perhaps too much so. I need something with more substance.

A sharp aroma that smells like you bathed a skunk in lemon juice. Misty, bright gold with a white filmy head. Good label, standard US longneck. Mineral, lightly astringent, lemon zest, funky notes. Medium to slightly light body, low carbo. Hoppy, lemon finish. ABC, Betton.

UPDATED: JUN 3, 2013 Had again today, this time froma bottle, not bad at first but has a strong astringent aftertaste. raised from a 1.9 to 2. old rating: On tap at mad mex. Creamy head. Slight perfume aroma. Quite bitter, almost like an IPA. Chewing on green grapefruit rinds manifests itself on the back of the throat. Same with finish. Not impressed. Some mild co2. Was expecting something a little more saison like.

12 ounce bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. Appearance: Pours a hazed, light straw-hued body with a medium-small, white head. Smell: Fragrant citrus shrouds the particularly pale maltiness, with bits of grain-flecked dough with subtle florals and a melange of spiciness. Taste: Pils malts, hints of other such grains sprinkled with a fine dusting of powdered sugar. Floral hints meld into citrus notes from the hops and citrus fruit additions which shimmy into a spiciness from the yeast, peppercorns, and hops, aided by the crisp carbonation. Dry, spicy finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-high carbonation for a lively, zippy mouthfeel. Overall: Iíd always thought the Victory V / Helios Ale saison was a bit too chewy for me, bodywise. This new Swing Session Saison is bright, light, and refreshing.
