Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (herbs), with notes of coriander, lemon peel, sage, peppercorns, lavender, etc. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, spicy. Light to medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Fans of Helios have long wished Victory would make a lower-alcohol version of that wonderful beer. Well, you can imagine my excitement when my eyes locked on this brew sitting there quietly on the shelf...at least until I noticed that it said "spiced" on the label. So naturally I only bought one bottle, fearing the worst. And sadly, those fears were realized as soon as I poured it into my glass. They fucked this up with a ton of spices, like nearly every other American brewery would. God dammit. God fucking dammit. I hope youíre in the mood for witbier, because that is exactly what this is. Spices galore. Fuck. What a huge disappointment. Mind you, itís an ok witbier...thereís no flaws per se (aside from the ass load of spices), and the flavor balance is good (other than the strong aftertaste of spices), but a saison it is not, nor is it the little brother to Helios that we all had hoped for. Please try again, Victory. Iím being serious...try again...make us a 4.5% Helios Junior. Please. Please. Please.

Pours a very clear straw with a white head. No funk in the nose, disappointing. Aromas of lemon, ginger. Very light and dry on the palate. A nice little blonde ale, but this is not anywhere near Helios. Scroll past.

Draft. Hazy pale yellow color, almost no head. Aroma of white pepper and straw. Bitter and lager like with no detectable barnyard or orher saison characteristics.

aside from a peppery snap in the middle of the flavor, this wasnt particularly memorable. too much for up front piney hops to be a saison too. not a good example of the style.

On tap at Bangers and Lace. Pours hazy yellow. Weak grapefruit aroma. Flavor is mostly grapefruit. Not getting much spice here. Maybe the slightest touch of nutmeg in the finish. Donít really know where they get off calling this a saison. Itís ok. I can see why some hopheads might like this (but probably think itís too weak)

degbert (1193) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAR 31, 2014
Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with large amounts of visible carbonation and a fine-grained, quick-dissipating, white head. Nose is lemon, some phenols, and a touch of latex. Very crisp on the tongue, with definite bitter lemon notes; light hops present, bready grains, but the bitter sourness, reminiscent of citrus pith, remains dominant; too much so. Finish is acidic and short. Thereís something out of whack here.

Lemony wheat aroma, light funk. Hazy golden, slight greenish tinge, thin head. Funk is mire in the forefront on the palate. Deceptively dry. Definitely sessionable, but perhaps too much so. I need something with more substance.

Poured from a bottle into a Victory Pint glass a light lemon yellow with a thick white head. Aroma is saison spice some light citrus. Flavor is upfront coriander/clove spice thinking orange as well. Also some bready funk. Fairly average by a stretch for a session. Bought a single bottle on whim and would have rather now not...

Drought. Rich yellow color, small whitish foamy head, hoppy aroma, low carbonation, abrupt finish. Nice refreshing seasonal.
