bbp182 (242), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 26, 2007 I had this on tap at Isacc Newtowns in Newtown Pa. It’s a good lager. I’d pick this over Yuengling anyday, for a lager, it’s got a good flavor, nice color and good smell. jredmond (470), New Jersey, USA May 14, 2007 Updated: Aug 30, 2007Draft at PJ Whelihan’s. This is one of the best pale lagers that I have had. Great taste - poured a bod somewhere between michelobe ultra and yuengling....so yellow. Nice sweet aroma, would def try this brew again. solid alc % as well Schroppfy (1710), Ohio, USA Aug 31, 2006 On tap, the Dirty Truth, Northampton, MA, August 7th and 8th. Wow - I love this stuff. I got a lot of grassiness and no real corn adjunct sweetness a la a traditional lager like PBR. None at all. Light gold in color with a great frothy head, this was grassy and bitter and absolutely lovely. It took me a bunch of back and forths with Victory to see what this was - named "Victory Reserve Lager" on the DT’s beer board. A pint of this beer and a few smaller treats convinced me to get my first piercing at Lucky’s parlor right next door, and that is one hell of a great tattooing and piercing establishment. obxdude10 (1371), Reading, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 23, 2005 Pure golden color, no hazy or cloudiness, looked almost like a Bud or Coors, but didn’t taste like it, very smooth & drinkable, great session beer, nothing like the big three lagers, full-bodied, well-balanced, well-done lager
ClarkVV (3545), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Jul 13, 2006 Draught pint at Redbones on 7/11/06. Absolutely, starkly clear with a very light, pale-straw color. Head is initially large, pure white and very foamy, eventually receding to partial cover, with some light lacing. Not all that much carbonation flowing about, certainly a significantly less amount than any macro lager. The nose, at first, comes alive with crisp saaz-like hoppiness. A bit of light fruitiness and hints of herbs. Soft and aromatic, it slowly allows the yeast to creep in. A bit of vanillin is light, with hints of corn-like biproducts (don’t actually think I smell the corn notes from the actual corn). I’d say it has about a low to moderate yeast bite for a lager, though the yeast is certainly full and easy to detect. In the flavor, the yeast really plays a major role. Some light minerals, a hint of paperiness and soft, highly attenuated malt. Maybe a touch of corn-meal-like flavors mixed in with a hint of honey. Just the barest trace of green apples and less hops in the flavor than in the aroma (though more bitterness on the end). You can certainly taste the macro-like pale lager yeast. Kind of reminds me of drinking PBR or some mid-tier macro lager, but without any of the cheap, corny/syrupy finish. Very clean. Obviously a true German lager yeast would be preferred, but that wasnt the goal here and I can respect that. Drinkable and highly refreshing, I found it to be quite successful.
