COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This classic style bitter is full and creamy on the tongue with no 'bite' as the name might suggest. Golden in color and mild in character, it's a 'session' beer that satisfies. Served hand pumped from the beer engine.

Comes out of the tap a beautiful, nearly opaque honey-golden - not much head, but that must be how it’s poured. Malty aroma has subtle fruity and horehound notes. Flavor has good malty and fruity tones and a bitter undertone - subtle, and as the description says, no bite. Finish is dry and smooth, not a lot of tingle but good body, and the fizz last. This is a beer to be sipped and savored.

Draft at Gingerman. Light bodied, low carbonation, nearly flat. Creamy palate. Nicely balanced. Smooth, round finish with mild bitterness. Has some redeeming qualities, just very bland.

Draft at Sybarite Pig. American pint glass. On Nitro. Pours dark orange with thick nitro head. Slight haze. Aroma of bread, sweet roll, slight citrus. Creamy mouth feel with low carbonation. Well balanced with slight sweetness, light citrus, bread dough, and bitter finish.

Draft @ Dutch’s. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma has some sweet malts, bread, some fruity hops, with some candied fruit notes as well. The flavor is very soft; light fruits, grass, light toasted bready malts, mild sweetness, lightly bitter. There is just not much to get excited about with this.

Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks alright; a transparent orange with razor-thin off-white lacing. Smells and tastes semi-sweet, doughy, and slightly bitterwith an undercarbonated mouthfeel. Completely forgettable.

On nitro at mad mex. Fairly smooth flat beer. Had such a beautiful pour, foaming top of glass unlike many. Swell falls to a velvaty head. Tastes like it should be darker. Finish is a tad medicinal for less than 5%.

UPDATED: APR 8, 2013 $5 pint at Neons. Hazy darker oranger color. Pretty much no head at all. Very little to no carbonation. The bartender kindly checked the gas lines for me, there was no difference before and after.. I’m told that this is just how the beer is. In their words, "it pours with a sour-like consistency." This isn’t a sour, though, just a flat, light beer with a mild bitter taste. Light body, very watery. Light caramel malts, more of the toasty english-style malts. Decent amount of fruity hops, lightly earthy. Seems like it would be a decent bitter if it was carbonated. Despite what the bartenders at Neons think, I still think this beer must be pouring incorrectly.

UPDATE: Tried this again at my home bar. It’s pouring just as flat as it was before. Apparently this is intentional, to mimic the classic real ale english bitter style. A lot of people at the bar were confused as to why it had such low carbonation. Doesn’t really pull the trick off. Scores unchanged.

Firkin at Real Ale. Pours a clean copper with some head and lace. Nice malty flavor with caramel and roasted malts, some nutty flavor. Moderate hop bitterness and a little too much of the yeast characteristics come through for my taste.
