Previously known as All Malt Lager (Helles) & V Lager

There was a time when all beer tasted this good. Back when immigrant Brewmasters turned fresh malts and hops into liquid gold. Before big business lessened our precious beer with corn and rice. Having trained in Germany, we thirst for better beer. So, we brew better beer like this crisp, golden, helles-style lager. Brewed with patience from quality German malts and hops, it is a Victory for Your Taste!

Malt: Imported 2 row German malts

Hops: Whole flower German hops

Bottle. I drank this one while watching the lunar eclipse on October 27, 2004 in my front yard here in Western PA. Pours a light golden with small 1/4" head that disappears quickly. Hard to describe this aroma, but a lot like a watered down Prima Pils from Victory brewing in the nose. Some really interesting hop aroma, obviously some German influence in these hops. Taste is light and slightly malty with a little malt sweetness at the outset and a nice explosion of tingle and bitter at the finish. Not full body, but well balanced all around. Certainly worth the quaff.

Draft. Pale yellow, a bit fizzy almost. Faint hay aroma. Very light lager flavor, with a touch of hay and bitterness on finish. A bit thin in the palate. Lawnmower, not really impressive.

I was somewhat worried by the look of this bottle. It was about an ounce low, and looked like it were full of water. However upon pouring it it showed a glassy pale yellow with a thin head. Aroma is a boring lager, slightly malty. The flavor is rather ho-hum. Not much to make this stand out among other lagers in my mind.

Yellow/gold color. A hoppy/crisp aroma. Body is thin and crisp, but it seems to work for this beer. Flavor is grainy and hoppy. Not what I expected, but pretty good anyway.

Bottled. Golden blond body with a frothy white head. Nose is grassy and hoppy with a subdued maltiness underneath. The hops seem to be in the forefront with this one. Mild "skunkiness" in the aroma at points as well. Taste is grassy and grainy with more malt flavors coming through. The European hops are making there presence felt in this as well. Nicely balanced, at any rate. Body is lighter than expected and crisp with dry notes. This could be my next "lawnmower" beer. Finish is malty, grassy, some straw notes and a crisp hop end. Refreshing and very drinkable.

Pretty good lager. If anyone has seen my ratings, you will know that I love Victory. This lager is smooth and has a good finish, but lacks any characterisitics that will propel it into greatness.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2008 [12 oz. bottle] Clear copper color with a very thin white head. This sucker is malt the whole way through. Heavy malt in the aroma, heavy and smooth malt in the taste and a crisp malty finish and aftertaste. Very interesting.

Clear yellow color with a small white head. Aroma of malt and a hint of hops. Flavor is mostly malt with a slight hop finish. A little thin, but overall an enjoyable beer.

Pours a hazy yellow with bubbles and a small head. Aroma is malt and more malt. Flavor is thin, and slightly carbonated. Overall a decent beer, just not my personal preference. Thanks goes to SpringsLicker for letting me try this one!
