Previously known as All Malt Lager (Helles) & V Lager

There was a time when all beer tasted this good. Back when immigrant Brewmasters turned fresh malts and hops into liquid gold. Before big business lessened our precious beer with corn and rice. Having trained in Germany, we thirst for better beer. So, we brew better beer like this crisp, golden, helles-style lager. Brewed with patience from quality German malts and hops, it is a Victory for Your Taste!

Malt: Imported 2 row German malts

Hops: Whole flower German hops

Smells somewhat skunky but tastes pretty good. I believe they recently reformulated this beer and I definitely like it more now than the old one.

Appearance is a slightly hazy deep yellow with a decent sized white head that goes quick. A bit of lacing remains throughout the life of the brew. Smells of malt and earthy hops with notes of spice and a few other things. This tastes of a wheat/grainy malt flavor with a slight sweetness. There is a small hop taste in there as well but I can’t detect much else. Mouthfeel is decent with good carbonation. This is a beer that would be good to give to someone who is used to macros to try and convert them. A fairly tasty lager that I would probably get again.

Not my idea of a lager at all...pale yellow color with white head, aroma of hops and some sweetness, possibly lemon. Very crisp body, but much more bitter than any other lager I have ever had. Goes down easy, bud not what I was looking for from this particular beer, from this particular brewer.

Yellow color, white head. Aroma is grass and yeast with some sweetness. Thin mouthfeel, lively carbonation. I think I’m going to have to try that again, something wrong probably happenned to the bottle I had, ’cause it tasted pretty bad, like an old medicine, very unpleasant.

Bottle Pours a crystal clear very pale yellow with lots of lively bubble. Small white head that dissapeasrs quickly. Sparse spotty lacing. Aroma is sweet and grassy with a touch of honey. Light pale flavors of light grain and grass. Quick mild finish. Easy to put away.

UPDATED: APR 23, 2007 2004 bottle. Pours a moderately weak golden color. Small fizzy white head, too much filtration. Aroma of grass, hay, saaz hops, pretty crisp and lightly bitter. Bit of pear and apple, light phenols. Flavor is a bit too bittersweet right of the start, developing some caramelly malt sweetness as it progresses. Very clean and filtered flavors of light grains, a touch of honey and almonds. Hops on the finish are not overdone, and add a good crispness, light herbal/spiciness. Still, I’m not terribly impressed. Malt seems muddled and too overbearing up front. Eh, it’s quite drinkable but unremarkable.

Bottle. I drank this one while watching the lunar eclipse on October 27, 2004 in my front yard here in Western PA. Pours a light golden with small 1/4" head that disappears quickly. Hard to describe this aroma, but a lot like a watered down Prima Pils from Victory brewing in the nose. Some really interesting hop aroma, obviously some German influence in these hops. Taste is light and slightly malty with a little malt sweetness at the outset and a nice explosion of tingle and bitter at the finish. Not full body, but well balanced all around. Certainly worth the quaff.

Draft. Pale yellow, a bit fizzy almost. Faint hay aroma. Very light lager flavor, with a touch of hay and bitterness on finish. A bit thin in the palate. Lawnmower, not really impressive.

I was somewhat worried by the look of this bottle. It was about an ounce low, and looked like it were full of water. However upon pouring it it showed a glassy pale yellow with a thin head. Aroma is a boring lager, slightly malty. The flavor is rather ho-hum. Not much to make this stand out among other lagers in my mind.

Yellow/gold color. A hoppy/crisp aroma. Body is thin and crisp, but it seems to work for this beer. Flavor is grainy and hoppy. Not what I expected, but pretty good anyway.
