COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Previously known as All Malt Lager (Helles) & V Lager

There was a time when all beer tasted this good. Back when immigrant Brewmasters turned fresh malts and hops into liquid gold. Before big business lessened our precious beer with corn and rice. Having trained in Germany, we thirst for better beer. So, we brew better beer like this crisp, golden, helles-style lager. Brewed with patience from quality German malts and hops, it is a Victory for Your Taste!

Malt: Imported 2 row German malts

Hops: Whole flower German hops

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2005 The graphic depicted here doesnít match the label on the beer I had (Victory Lager "V") but the Victory website seems to confirm that it is the same beer - must have updated their label. Crystal clean bright gold pour with a medium white head and fair lacing. Peasant aroma of hay and malt. Crisp and refreshing malt flavor with a very subtle and mellow hop finish but no bitterness or bite whatsoever. I know this isnít a very highly rated beer but every now and then, I have to step back and say "this just tastes great" and leave it at that. Thatís where Iím leaving this one.

A better than average beer, but the "fallout" at the end of each sip prevents this from being a good beer. Thanks to pjk33 for sending this one my way!

Light golden color with small but lastinghead, smells of wheat oats and honey. Taste clearly of honey, roasted malts and very little hops. Nice amount of carbonation.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2005 This says Victory V Lager on my beer. A light gold color with a medium sized white head. Aroma is earthy with sweet tobacco and green beans. The taste is light and refreshing. Not a whole lot of flavor. The taste has some vegetables, but I am not sure what. It is lighly hopped. A little strong on carbonation. A nice light refresher.

Some notes before the rating begins: First off thanks to my secret santa for this. Second, my bottle has a different label that pictured here. It doesnít say "all-malt" at all but it does say in the description itís a helles so this has gotta be it. Also, the best by date on this was sometime a month ago but the beer seems none the worse the wear so Iím rating anyway. All right, on to the good stuff:

Crystal clear golden yellow. Pours with nearly no head. Nose nice but mild with hints of fresh cut hay, lemon and toast. Drinks very easily. This could be a good chugger for beer-bonging idiots provided they donít mind paying the extra dough for the good stuff. The carbonation is feisty but somewhat subdued. Well hopped without sacrificing a thing in the way of drinkability. This is how a pale-colored lagers should be made.

Fresh straw color body with brilliant clarity, medium carbonation and a pillowy snow white head that faded fast. Enticing aroma of fresh grain, wheat, and grassy hops. Flavor has balanced notes of malt, butternut, lemon, and herbal hops. Medium sweet maltiness and a light bitter finish. Crisp and clean with no detectable sulfur. A very fresh tasting beer that is noticeably hoppier than other bland lagers. This is a great tasting thirst-quencher. I could drink this everyday, especially during the summer.

Iíve never had a bad beer from Victory; these guys know what theyíre doing! Pours a nice pale-gold with a long-lasting white head, some lacing. Slightly sweet and malty. Very drinkable.

A spicy hop aroma emenates from my glass as I pour this beer. The beer is a brilliant straw gold color, and is topped by a frothy, just barely off-white head. The aroma is nicely full with continental spicy hop notes, I get notes of herbs, grass, and a hint of lemon. The beer is quite light on the palate, and has a pleasing malt sweetness. There is a nice bitterness in the finish, which is a nice balance. There is a decent amount of hop flavor here as well. This beer is actually defined by the hoppiness, though certainly not in the way that an IPA is defined by hoppiness.

This is just an incredibly tasty example of a Helles. Despite it being past its bottle date this beer tasted incredibly fresh and vibrant to me, I canít even imagine a fresh one being better.

Smells somewhat skunky but tastes pretty good. I believe they recently reformulated this beer and I definitely like it more now than the old one.

Appearance is a slightly hazy deep yellow with a decent sized white head that goes quick. A bit of lacing remains throughout the life of the brew. Smells of malt and earthy hops with notes of spice and a few other things. This tastes of a wheat/grainy malt flavor with a slight sweetness. There is a small hop taste in there as well but I canít detect much else. Mouthfeel is decent with good carbonation. This is a beer that would be good to give to someone who is used to macros to try and convert them. A fairly tasty lager that I would probably get again.
