Previously known as All Malt Lager (Helles) & V Lager

There was a time when all beer tasted this good. Back when immigrant Brewmasters turned fresh malts and hops into liquid gold. Before big business lessened our precious beer with corn and rice. Having trained in Germany, we thirst for better beer. So, we brew better beer like this crisp, golden, helles-style lager. Brewed with patience from quality German malts and hops, it is a Victory for Your Taste!

Malt: Imported 2 row German malts

Hops: Whole flower German hops

7/9/10. 12oz bottle into a pint glass. The pour is basically clear yellow, very light, with a fizzy white head. The aroma is dry pilsner type grain, very German - a hint of spicy hops as well. The aroma is sweeter but with that same grainy taste and a touch of earthy hops - not that obvious. A little citrusy in the finish.

12-oz., trade w/BeachBum25. Pours a beautiful bright straw color with a mild, yeasty nose on top of a light, foamy, white head. Mild, neutral flavor from the attack through the finish--totally refreshing and drinkable beer. Thanks for the bottle!

Aroma : traditional straight golden malt aroma, grainy lager with light scent of hop.6+
Appearance: great shade of gold with medium light white top.3-
Flavour and Palate: medium bodied. First sip tells all, perfectly prepared malt work. Its roundness, just enough carbonation inside with touch of hop. If not the label I would never believed this was brewed in USA. Perfectly balanced, softer than German counterparts, still crisper than Czech ones and fuller and more malt sided than most Polish micros. This is truly benchmark brew as for golden pale lager.

Bottle [12oz]. Pours a clear, very pale yellow-gold with an average size lasting frothy white head. Aroma of corn, grain, biscuity malt and very light hops, too light in fact. Only slightly watery flavour is grainy and slightly sweet along with corn, biscuity malt and light hops. Very mild bitter finish. Average bodied. I’m not a big fan of Lagers but I’ve definitely had much better ones then this, this is average at best -- in short: Boring.

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2008 RE-TASTE: This is clearly not a pale lager. The body is cloudy like a hefe, the aroma is of banana like a hefe, the taste is malt, notes of banana, and some citrus. Great Lager!------ first tried Victory V Lager when my friend and I purchased a Variety case of Victory beer including: V lager, Hop Devil, Primapils, and Golden Monkey. Needless to say this beer was overshadowed by our instant love for Golden Monkey...sorry V Lager. This is a decent lager, nothing special though.

On tap at flying saucer. Pours a clear golden with a small white head that quickly dimnishes to nothing. The aroma is corn malt and honey. Thin mouthfeel with a light malt and honey flavor. A decent lager from victory.

Bottle pours light straw with a quickly diminishing fizzy head.   Light carbonation, virtually no lacing.   Aroma is of light malts and hay.   Taste is much the same but quite sweet.   Crisp and clean, but not as malty as I would have hoped.   A bit thin, but still good.   Thanks goes out to Pabobcat for the trade!

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2004 Bottle: Clean light golden hue with fizzy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of herbal and floral hops, toasted bready malts, light orange zest, lemongrass, and pepper. The taste starts with a bready malt character, some undertone of citrus, and grassy tones. Detected a smooth bitterness and a hint of spice on the finish. The mouthfeel is smooth and lively, dry on finish. Overall a nicely quaffable brew but not as sharp as the best Helles.

12 oz bottle from Sicilianos (Grand Rapids, MI). A single I never see in Chicago. Pours a lively carbonated pretty well hazed yellow, lighter can still see through of course with a decent offwhite head that dies to a film, laces small and clings to the edges eventually.. still better than a lot of lagers. Aromas are bready malts, crackers, floral hops with a touch of spiciness. The color is a bit dulled over, but still pretty. Grass and weeds become dominant on the nose more, with bread and dough following closely behind. Initial is lighter bodied with substantial bread and dough, pretty strong grassiness, a touch of lemon (Lemongrass, even), weeds and some dryness. Spice is minimal if any. A light summer refresher, simple yet balanced with a good flavor scheme. Can’t complain much about this lager.. it’s clean, decent flavors, and balanced.. a summer quencher.

12oz very cool retro-WW2 label. Pale clear yellow with a decent-sized fizzy/foamy white head, not a lot of bubbling. Honey and heather with a fair amount of sharp grassiness, no corn or paper - bit of biscuit malt too. Tastes of lemon grass and honey, no alcohol, undertone of light cereal grain - not a go-to style for me, but crack this in a can and I would buy them during the summer as a low-intensity maintenance quencher. Chewy, decent body, strong carbonation yet soft on the palate - quick-finishing with a dry, grassy aftertaste, ultimately not all that sweet.
