WelcomeHome789 (4), Marlton, New Jersey, USA does not count Sep 11, 2009 Pours a white/tan head that doesn’t last too long. Aroma has slight hints of fruit. Beautiful deep red-orange color when put to a light. A little bitter, but the hops work nicely. Nice finish. arrogantb (694), Denver, Colorado, USA Sep 1, 2009 Reddish-amber with golden tints, rocky white head is soon gone with the wind leaving a mottled white surface. It smells Belgian. The taste is thick, sweet, fruity, and delicious, wow! The alcohol is not really detectable overtly but the thickness and sweetness make me sure it is strong. This is an excellent beer and possibly the best I have had from Victory.

Shared with some confused friends who had never seen a beer packaged in such a way. They took a break from their "triple hops brewed, great pilsner taste" Miller Lite for this beer, and I think what they experienced was an epic smackdown after which Miller Lite will just never satisfy them again. For them, it was sort of like hooking up with Megan Fox after having being stuck on a desert island with the nasty, crazy, stretch-marked Octomom for 10 years. This beer reminded me of St. Bernardus Abt 12, which is saying something. I would call this a Quad BTW, not a Belgian Strong Ale. Pours a cloudy dark mahogany-brown color with a lasting off-white head. Aroma is awesome with caramel, candi sugar, dark fruits, spices, and Belgian yeast. Flavor is malty and somewhat sweet with caramel, fig, raisin, date, spices, candi sugar, mild hops, and alcohol. Incredibly non-boozy for a 12% beer though. Palate is medium-full with lively carbonation. If I didn’t know better, I might think this was brewed by Trappist monks. Chalk it up as a victory for Victory. BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA Aug 17, 2009 750ml caged and corked bottle from McKinnon’s in Salem, NH. Pours a murky copper body with an inch and a half to two inches of light tan head. Smells fruity - pears, raisins, citrus - with some spice, caramel, brown sugar... Tastes fruity sweet with caramel and brown sugar notes. Fairly dry despite the robust sweet flavors that equally comprise the flavor. Balanced and subdued as any good quad should be. Smooth medium body with ample carbonation. A sipper for sure (as is to be expected) but one sip most definitely invites another. A really solid quad and an enjoyable beer. Not overwhelming or in your face like a lot of American interpretations are, but balanced and enjoyable. vtafro (452), , New Jersey, USA Aug 10, 2009 Bottle. Couldn’t believe how much better this tasted than the golden monkey considering the abv is considerably higher on this brew. Nice job victory. Nice golden beer with a depth of character on aorma and flavor. GardenGabe (125), Denver, Colorado, USA Aug 1, 2009 Pour from a 750 is orangish amber with a soft white head. Smells of caramel, molasses, dried fruit, plumes, and spice. Just like Thanksgiving dessert! Sweet and soft on the pallete coat the mouth well and goes done easy. You can taste the alcohol some but it is not a distraction. Finish is thick and bitter with a slightly metallic quality. nittanytide (33), Pennsylvania, USA Jul 31, 2009 Poured a dark amber. Nice sweet aroma. Candied fruits (oranges, pears?) caress the palate. The hops provide the bitter balance necessary to keep it from becoming too sweet. Alcohol is definitely present, but nicely covered. I really enjoyed this one. I’d like to get my hands on some and bring them out for special occasions. Who needs champagne? bionicman43 (1), USA does not count Jul 22, 2009 First time tasting this
ale. It rolls very smoothly over the tongue with a brief tingle of carbonation then a sense of fruit and malted grain. The finish sustains those flavors as they dissipate maintaining the body as the flavors fade.
